Homeowner stops burglary by showing pistol
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: An intruder was frightened away from a Chesterfield Avenue home Tuesday when greeted by the homeowner, who was armed with a pistol.

The burglar knocked on both the front and back door, and did not get a response from inside the home. The man then cut a hole in a rear window, reached in, and opened the rear door. When he entered the house, the homeowner was waiting with a gun.

The burglar immediately fled.

1. Cool!
Think I will go buy me some guns!

Whoops. I just remembered. Friend of mine got

shot to death during a burglary; seems the thief forgot his own

weapon, so he used my friends. Bummer!

4. Your friend
should have known what GUN CONTROL really means, and he would still be with us.

8. That's harsh, dude
A woman I went to high school with was raped at gunpoint-again, HER gun. Oddly enough, she was a police officer at the time.

9. I am always Mr. Spoonman,
amazed by presumptous gun slinging bad asses, excluding you of course.

Having been one bad ass gunslinger myself (in my own mind), down there

in the wildes of South Carolina I can assure you that bad things

can and do happen to good guys with guns.

5. You Had to Dig to Find Your "Examples"
I found mine within four pages of a search on "gun + shot" in Google's news section. And they were all posted to the 'Net within the past 24 hours.

My point? There are more examples of guns costing lives than of guns saving lives.

6. I'm so sorry,
I don't own, run, or work for any type of media
When my wife shot someone trying to break into our condo, it never made it in the paper, TV or radio.

7. I Don't Work In The Media Either
I guess your wife's not getting mentioned in the press is yet another example of "liberal media bias", right?

10. local anecdote
My neighbor saw the two teens beside my bedroom window.

He walked out with a flashlight in one hand and a .45 colt SAA pistol in the other.

"What are you doing?" he asked.
"We're not trying to break in!" on of them shouted.
he responded that he didn't mention or ask about breaking in.
They ran.

I fixed the window frame the next day.

I've defended my life against gun weilding thugs nearly half a dozen times, in the past 35 years.

Always obeyed the law.
Always found the nearest cop and surrendered to custody.
Been persecuted (by over-zealous prosecutors)a few times.
Grand Juries have always refused to bring charges.

My CCW permit was issued only after exhaustive and invasive investigations into my character and background.

I'm more law abiding than my County Sheriff!

Gun control (in the real world)

The gun in my concealed holster will never harm anyone who has not already broken the law and criminally assaulted me or someone near me.

Gun Control/ means: No gun in my control will ever be used to commit a crime.

"Displaying a weapon" is not recommended by those of us who've actually been under fire and survived.

It can just cause the criminal assailant to fire first.

My advice:
Become familiar with the laws of your state.
Obey them.
Arm & protect yourself, within the framework of the law.

My hope:
That I may be able to save another gun grabber's ass
and convert another dittohead into someone responsible for his/her own safety/actions.

My dream;
That police will return to the old time standard of "putting their lives on the line" to protect the citizens.

Our reality:
Cops protect cops, and we citizens are on our own.

eg;
Call 911 when your life is threatened.
Cops walk in sniffing and snooping,
looking for any reason to lock-up the person who called them.
-goal IMHO?
They want to be left alone.
'Interrupt my dinner? I'll find a reason to throw you in jail!'

Show up late and draw chalk lines around the bodies,
instead of shooting it out with the criminals.
