1. McCain is big on closing all these gun show loopholes
I'm all in favor of letting miltary men do our negotiating with the gun lobby.

are part of the "gun lobby." Good luck getting them to disarm their neighbors.

3. Amen
AGS is a fraudulent anti-gun cover organization, and John McCain -- along with Shrub Jr. -- is as much of a gun grabber as some Democrats. My two repuke Senators, DeW(h)ine and Voino(f-a-)vich are gun grabbers too.

And you know what? The NRA is right...the only people peddling this "gun rights" horseshit is a tiny knot of extremists...

7. Funny..
How they changed the word 'control' to 'safety'. Just redefine something and you get your agenda. Neat how corrupt that is.

9. More Republican Fans
Boy, first it's Sarah and Jim Brady, now John McCain is a great guy.

Aren't we constantly reminded that this is the DU? (Unless of course the designated Repukes agree with you on gun control then it doesn't matter I guess.)

Interesting approach.

Including 39% of the Democratic party.

11. See, now you're wrong
You can't be a "real" Democrat, no matter how you've voted or how much you work for the party, unless you totally embrace gun control.

Dammit, how many times do you have to be told!

You must be a Repuke in drag if you feel that there is any other way to deal with guns than more stringent and restrictive laws.

(sarcasm off)

12. Some of us are single issue voters
I would vote for a sensible weapons regulating Republican if he was pro-choice and was generally reform minded, if he was running against an NRA "Democrat". This opportunity will never present itself in Georgia. I have voted for John McCain in the 2000 Georgia primary in order to effect the Republican party.

14. He's just about the only Republican
anyone can look at without puking...

And it says everything about the wretched state of that party that they went out of their way to kick him in 2000 so they could choose the AWOL drunk.

I keep hearing rumors that he's going to be Kerry's VP choice, and it would make me laugh my ass off with delight if that happened.

15. I like McCain's strong stand on closing loopholes& enforcement of gun law
I wasn't surprised that McCain wants disclosure against these wacko torturers and the enabling administration that let it happen. This guy McCain, usually takes the tough stands against the scariest opponents.

17. John McCain as VP candidate sure would cause RepKKKe congressmen to
feel that they were between a rock and a hard place on an "assault" weapons ban. Even Chimpy would be made to squeal like the monkey molester he is. Bush is 12 points down with women, a chasm of a gender gap, especially in battleground states. Rove might take the chance, that his kind of white guys have nowhere to go and that he can control the NRA-GOA no restriction on weapons nuts. Citizen McCain would be a powerful force in the Congress between now and election day.

Like Steve Earle says "The pistol is the devil's right hand".

20. Good guys hate when weapons are used against good people.
The weapon is just an inanimate tool. What the tool is used for depends entirely on the user.

21. "Beat your swords into plowshares" makes more sense than"Beat your tools..
into tools". Weapons are different than tools although in a pinch, tools can substituted for a weapon. Weapons by their very essence of design bring with them a moral meaning. A-Bomb, WMD's, "smart" bombs, "assault " rifle, Anthrax, naplam, claymore mine, cluster bomb, neutron bomb, Mustard gas, etc are on one side of the street and tools like ditch witches, farm tractor, wheelbarrows, nailguns, vacuum cleaners, etc are on the otherside, it's kind of obvious.

28. It's a tool I use to hunt with and a tool I use for target shooting.
The fact that a tool can be used as a deadly weapon doesn't mean that it is it's only purpose. Rifles don't aim and shoot themselves, just as knives don't stab by themselves and axes don't chop by themselves.

Comparing a rifle that fires one shot per trigger pull to a thermonuclear device is far beyond absurd.
