IDF soldier stabbed to death near Jerusalem

A Palestinian stabbed to death an Israel Defense Forces soldier at a military checkpoint in the occupied West Bank on Thursday.

The soldier was stabbed in the back of his head at the Qalandiyah checkpoint between Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Ramallah.

He was later identified as Nir Kahana, 20, from the northern town of Tivon.


The attacker came to the checkpoint with a knife and inflicted critical wounds on his victim, who died of a short time later. A military doctor established the Israeli's death at the murder scene.
