TV pictures suggest a family was on a picnic when the disaster struck

Six people, including three children, have been killed by Israeli shells which hit a beach in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian officials say.
They say at least 25 people were wounded in the shelling.

The first television pictures revealed a terrible scene, the BBC's Alan Johnston says.

At least four figures lay unconscious on the ground, possibly dead, our correspondent says. One of victims is a middle-aged woman, another is a child.

A little further away, a man was lying on a sand dune, perhaps fatally injured, while a child stood looking on in utter horror, our correspondent says.

He says that it looks very much as if this was a family enjoying their Friday afternoon off on the beach when disaster struck....

murder. There's no excuse for it. Having said that, I fail to understand why you posted this in GD. You know it's going to get moved. Not agreeing with the rules is not a good enough reason to flaunt them.

As far as I'm concerned this is pertinent world news. I have never posted on the forum for Palestianian/Israeli issues (you are free to do a search if you like) so I am not familiar with these so-called rules blacklisting any such news from the General Discussion forum.

Of course, I suppose I could always post another Ann Coulter or Tom Cruise thread and that would be okay? How about some jokes?

To bury legitimate world news on the I/P forum. Let's just pretend I never read that on the BBC and that I have time to visit the I/P forum every day to see if anything is actually going on over there.

I'm cranky after reading countless threads bemoaning the fact that the MSM focuses on inane topics such as Tom Cruise, missing white girls, Ann Coulter, etc etc only to come to DU and find the very same topics clogging up the GD forum while legitimate topics sink like a stone. I don't have time to peruse the scores of different fora on DU and depend on the big three to give me a recap of important news and views. To me this subject is legitimate general news but few people will read about it now because I suspect there are a few thousand DUers like me who don't have time to search dozens of fora in order to cut and paste together the latest news for discussion. So that's okay -- just let this trivial tidbit of news die here on the I/P forum so I can get back to the business of dodging the latest collection of more pertinent threads on GD.

BTW, this same article was just posted to LBN, too. Better rush over there and yank it before anyone sees it!

Those bombs may have been made in the USA, or paid for in the USA. It seems like an issue that we should be discussing and debating, not buried deep in some dungeon.
