Israeli air strike kills two Hamas men

An Israeli air strike has killed two Hamas fighters in the northern Gaza Strip and wounded three others, Palestinian medics said.

The Israeli military said it launched a strike on a field near Bait Lahiya in the Jabalya refugee camp on Sunday at fighters attempting to fire rockets.

The killing of the Hamas fighters was the first by Israel since the Islamic resistance movement formally scrapped a 16-month truce with Israel on Friday and resumed firing rockets and mortar bombs from Gaza.

Three other Hamas fighters were wounded in the air strike.

It does seem like Hamas and the GOI have a common interest in thwarting Mr. Abbas' plebescite and fending off peace. I seem to remember that Arafat for a long time was not allowed to conduct elections; which led me to wonder how it is that Abbas thinks he can just decide to call them now? In any case, I will be surprised if a proper election is held.
