PM will meet Abbas 'anywhere, anytime'
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was scheduled to arrive in Rome Wednesday for a day of meetings with top Italian officials.

In an interview in La Repubblica published on Tuesday, Olmert said he was willing to meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud "anywhere, anytime and without preconditions" and was prepared to make territorial concessions that would "enable Palestinians in the West Bank to have a compact territory. For this we will cede all necessary territories," he said.

2. A conversation would be a good start!
The question is, what role does Abbas have at this point?

Can there be any kind of peace process with Hamas?

I feel hopeful that Abbas and Olmert could get things moving in a constructive direction.

With Hamas in control, however, I don't know what to expect.

4. Yeah, it would. The problem is...
..I don't think Abbas has any real power to get things moving in a constructive direction. At least that's the impression I get from how things are...

3. A day late and a dollar short...
..or OMFG! We have isolated/neutered/humiliated all those that could oppose HAMAS! OMFG!

Far too late to unscrew the pooch, IMO.
