Israeli House Plan Defies Roadmap (BBC)
Israeli house plans defy roadmap
The Israeli government is going ahead with the construction of more than 300 new homes in Jewish settlements in the occupied territories, defying the so-called roadmap peace plan.
The housing ministry has invited bidders for 143 new apartments in the Karnei Shomron settlement in the north of the West Bank, and another 180 in Givat Zeev, north of Jerusalem.

The American-backed plan for the Middle East, known as the roadmap, requires Israel to freeze construction of settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

It is the second time this month Israel has defied the plan; having earlier unveiled plans for 600 new homes in West Bank settlements.

1. Gee
let's send Israel more money to steal Palestinian land with. Let's help them build homes on land that isn't theirs. Let's buy the missiles they need to strike crowds of Palestinian civilians (they're just "squatters" anyway, right rini?). Let's buy them the bulldozers they need to murder the peace activists who protest IDF terrorism and war crimes.

Yeah, that's it. Put my money to good use. Murder civilians and steal their land from them. Makes me proud to be an American.

So proud.

3. Projection
Yes they will be destroyed eventually and all those people will return to Israel or wherever they came from and IDF and all the settlers will move from the OT.

4. Unless
"Yes they will be destroyed eventually and all those people will return to Israel or wherever they came from and IDF and all the settlers will move from the OT."

I see no evidence that this will happen in the foreseeable future.

On the other hand, I see plenty of evidence that Israel is moving ahead in its plan annex the OT permanently, the only problem being a PR issue: What to do with all those brown people?

My post above which was deleted contained no breaking of rules whatsoever.

I would send a PM to a mod and ask what it's about, but I would just be reminded that admins work for free and have a tough enough job without having to answer to everyone's complaints of bias.

I would ask a question about it in "Ask the Admins", but there I would only be greeted by someone telling me if I don't like it I can scamper off to another website, after all it's a "big internet out there" (it's what they told me last time)

I would send an email to an important DU person but I'd only get a reply saying "we at DU have faith in the I/P mods" (in other words, just get over it).

Maybe instead, I should be asking the question "who do I make my check out to"?

I haven't commented on this before, but I've had a lot of my posts deleted.

The political debate in Israel on Israel is much stronger and open than it is in America.

It is unfortunate that even on this message board, vigorous and passionate debates are not permitted, and I do not know why.

Really, it's a rough and tumble world, and there is no need to be prissy, unless the real point is to stifle unpopular viewpoints.

15. Israel is full of bullshit - building more settlement housing
This just exposes Israel's real intentions. It won't and never has ceased building those settlements. If there was peace, settlement building would have to stop. But, by provoking low level conflict, Israel can just keep building settlement houses. I agree that Israel's real motivation is to take the land and get rid of the Palestinians. Many comments were made by historical Israeli leaders like Ben-Gurion even back in the 1948 time frame of how they weren't exactly happy with the more than 50% of the land they got from the U.N. but they said "we'll take this now, and we'll get the rest later." They've been working at that ever since. Settle. Settle. Settle. Build and Build. Demolish Palestinian homes. Torch Palestinian orchards and fields.

Avoid peace.

When peace gets close, they'll do a "targeted assassination of a suspected Palestinian militant" to provoke and heat things up a little. Or, if they get a leader who tries realistically for peace, they'll assassinate him.

A state to be proud of.
