When the US is more "hawkish" on the Palestinians than the Israelis are
Edited on Fri Oct-31-03 03:08 AM by La_Serpiente
OK people. Is this wrong? As much of an A$$hole Sharon is, I give him credit now for attempting to return to Peace talks with the Palestinians. However, the US is denouncing this move of Sharon.

JERUSALEM (AP) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Thursday he is ready to negotiate with the new Palestinian prime minister at any time, but U.S. officials took a tougher stance, saying the Palestinians first must dismantle terror organizations.

1. Wow
More pope-like then the pope? Just another proof that the US policy has to change, dramatically...

2. Same story, different source; check it out:
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/354756.html

with the following 'embedded' quotation from Qureia himself:

"... I want Palestinian assurances, and if I get these Palestinian assurances, then there will be no problem," Qureia said. "If we unite, we will open roads, if we don't unite, we will close the roads on ourselves ..."

(looks promising)

3. Because it has never had anything to do with Israel, or Palestine

It has been a US-UK game for 80 years, it is one today, and it would be indeed ironic if the Butcher of Beirut was the first one to get a clue.

But also unlikely. Arikins is a playa. He gets his lil somepm somepm, and whatever noises he and Yalon may make for the camera are drowned out by the loud CHA-CHING.

I want to see Ashleigh Banfield go out to the trailer park and ask the Ethiopians what they think about it.

Let's get some low income Middle Eastern Israelis, as opposed to the platinum-topped Pinkus and ilk, on Fox News to give the Israeli point of view.

How come former AIPAC employee Wolf Blitzer never has Yuri Avnery on instead of Dore Gold to comment on the latest "operation" involving firing missiles into crowded little residential areas?

5. If they have, I have not seen them

and I watch TV news, um, a lot.

For those whose only source of info are the CrusadeNets, Israelis are all scary looking wild-eyed shrilling banshees with Russian accents.

Even American Jews, with exception of the notable, fleeting and singular flash of Adam Shapiro, are portrayed as extremist bloodthirsty zealots.

No mention is ever made of the Jews who risk their lives to save Palestinians from sharon's thugs, or work for peace. The other day there was a little Reuters spurt about some Rabbis that got beaten up by settlers, it was studiously ignored by CNN and co.

I have never seen anyone from Tikkun on, or Not in Our Name, a 30 second piece about Tayyush about a yr and a half ago, and never just ordinary non-European Israelis.

They don't even talk about the 20 odd and rising % of Israeli households who don't have enough to eat, because sharon spends all the US tax dollars on killing Palestinian kids instead of feeding Israeli ones.
