Israel gives Lebanon cluster bomb data
The IDF has handed over data on cluster bombs fired during the 2006 war with Hizbullah, the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon said.

The move follows UN and Lebanese calls for information that could help eliminate the threat that has killed more than 20 civilians and wounded about 200 since the fighting ended in August 2006.

A statement by the UN in Lebanon said the peacekeepers received "technical strike data and related maps" Tuesday and would pass them on to the Lebanese army.

The UN and human rights groups say Israel dropped about four million cluster bomblets during the month-long war. Up to a million failed to explode and can detonate at the slightest disturbance.

3. Seems that Israel has gotten awfully "charitable"
in the run up the meeting with Obama, it only took them 2 years and 9 months to cough this up

4. Yeah, that occurred to me too. That and the food for Gaza announcement.
In this case however, the IDF has apparently obeyed the civilian government, something which remains to be seen WRT food and Gaza.

5. Indeed. Proof of what I've been arguing all along..
that Israel is far more influenced by the USA than the other way round. As shown by the fact that Israel has become more accommodating in key areas since America elected a liberal president to replace Bush, even though they themselves have a more RW government than before.
