IDF officer convicted of causing Palestinian's death by negligence
A military court convicted an Israel Defense Forces captain yesterday of causing the death by negligence of Mohammed Ali Zeid, 16, in October 2002.

The officer will be sentenced at a later date. The conviction is one of the first of the current intifada pertaining to a case in which a Palestinian was killed.

The officer served as deputy commander of an artillery battalion that on October 5, 2002 dispersed demonstrating Palestinians in the village of Nazlat Zeid, southwest of Jenin. The officer shot and killed the Palestinian youth, who was on the porch of his house. The Palestinian was apparently hit after soldiers fired in the air to impose a curfew.

1. The IDF is not a terrorist organization
No one claims that the IDF is perfect. By and large, they have performed with bravery in the arena of the terrorists. This incident was investigated and the soldier found guilty.

5. oh yeah
shooting unarmed boys in the back sure is bravery! Nope nothing terrorist about murdering civilians and bulldozing their homes.

Nope nothing terrorist about slamming missiles into crowds of civilians.

Nope nothing terrorist about murdering peace activists who get in the way of stealing land.

Sure, the IDF isn't terrorist.

Right-o.

2. Israeli army conviction praised
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3522879.stm

<snip>

"Human rights campaigners have welcomed the conviction of an Israeli army officer for the killing of a Palestinian teenager in the West Bank.

A military court found Captain Zvi Kurtzky guilty of negligence over the death of Mohammed Zeid in October 2002.

The boy was fatally wounded in his home by a bullet fired by Captain Kurtzky.

It is the first time a soldier has been convicted over the death of a Palestinian since the start of the current intifada."

6. Over 1 million bullets fired
1 conviction.

Fabulous.

Let's see if the sentence for this murder (lets scratch "fired in the air" shall we?) equals that dolled out to hapless Palestinians rounded up by the occupation forces.

8. The first
Court proceedings do not keep pace with daily events. Unlike in the the PA, where justice is swift, following a 10 minute trial.

9. Or
Unlike the military occupation, where you can be thrown in the slammer (and tortured) with no evidence, forever.

"Justice" is swift because the PA is mostly a bunch of thugs.

Why'd you think Israel put them in there in the first place?
