Israeli forces kill Palestinian child
A three-and-a-half-year-old Palestinian girl has been shot dead by Israeli occupation forces in the town of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Rawan Abu Zaid was shot twice in the head in her home in Rafah's Brazil neighbourhood on Saturday, according to the head of Rafah's main hospital.

The girl's family said she was hit by Israeli army fire as she walked to a shop near her home in the Brazil neighbourhood of the camp.

A total of 43 Palestinians have been killed in Rafah since the start of Israel's Operation Rainbow, launched to round up wanted Palestinian activists and stamp out weapons smuggling under the border with Egypt.

2. Israeli Troops Kill 4-Year-Old Palestinian -Witnesses
RAFAH, Gaza Strip (Reuters) - A four-year-old Palestinian girl was shot dead on Saturday in a Gaza refugee camp where Israeli troops are mounting raids against militants and a suicide bomber exploded at a West Bank checkpoint.

Palestinian medics and witnesses said Israeli soldiers shot the girl in Rafah refugee camp, but Israeli military sources said they did not know of any shooting in the neighborhood where she was killed.

In the West Bank, a suicide bomber detonated his explosive belt at an army checkpoint near a Jewish settlement, wounding a soldier and three Palestinians, the army said.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility for the bombing, and said in a statement it was in retaliation for the Rafah raid, which has left 42 Palestinians dead and hundreds homeless.

.........

So... only two gunshots were heard, the two that killed the girl.

Therefore, this could not have been "collateral damage".

What's the excuse this time?

3. Two "gunbursts", I expect it was more than two "gunshots".
One may certainly be skeptical that a 3 year old was hit
twice in the head by accident, although it is not impossible.

10. al-jazeera propagandizes it.....
Edited on Sat May-22-04 12:50 PM by drdon326

al-reuters picks it up.

ONLY one minor problem......no proof,no named witnesses
no documentation.

No, lets just go with the convenient propaganda that it must
be those heartless murdering IDF and no other explanation is
even considered.

And lord knows al-jazeera would *NEVER* publish anything
but the truth.

And dont even mention that those same old murdering IDF flew
3 innocent palestinian victims of this mornings palestinian terrorist attack to the hospital to get medical care.
(must have been a oversight,huh?)

edit for sp

14. A whole lot less....
than the propaganda bullshit published on al-jazeera.

I have condemned a actions by the IDF in the past but
considering the fight they have against groups of terrorists
like hamas (that still have in their charter the destruction of israel) AND trying to stop the flow of weapons that support the
atrocities committed by the palestinian terrorists, I think they
shown remarkable restraint under these circumstances.

17. So, despite the fact that there were several witnesses....
and the fact that the girl died has been confirmed by an official not related to the family, and that four news sources, at the very least, have reported the event, you STILL don't believe it?

What does it take?

23. No shots were fired
the IDF says that no shots were fired in the area where it was claimed the girl was hit:

The IDF is investigating the death of a three-year-old girl who Palestinians claim was shot twice in the head by soldiers as she walked in the Brazil neighborhood on Saturday.

According to reports, Rawan Abu Zaid was walking to a shop near her home when she was hit.

IDF officials said they had no knowledge of the incident, but IDF forces uncovered an eight meter deep tunnel later in the day and in the area there were heavy exchanges of gunfire between soldiers and Palestinian gunmen.

"The Palestinians lodged a complaint with the district liaison office, but to our knowledge and according to initial findings no soldiers shot in the vicinity where the girl was located," a military official said.
