Major Jerusalem bombing foiled

The security services thwarted a major suicide bombing that was planned for Jerusalem last week, police announced Monday.

The attack, which was to take place last Sunday night or Monday morning in Mea She'arim, was foiled after police and the Shin Bet quickly acted on pinpoint intelligence information that Hamas was planning on carrying out an imminent bombing in the city.

Police set up spot checks at the northern entrances to Jerusalem and carried out a series of other security measures in a last-ditch effort to prevent the attack.

At the same time, acting on further intelligence information provided by the Shin Bet, border police arrested Husam Nabolsi, 38, a resident of the Old City, on suspicion of involvement. During his interrogation, Nabolsi, who carries an Israeli ID, confessed that he was supposed to receive a 15 kilogram-20kg. bomb and pass it on to the intended bomber, who was to come to Jerusalem from Nablus.
Police said Nabolsi said he was recruited by his cousin, Said Tabangeh, from Nablus.

Only a 15-20 kg bomb??

Hell, how many could that kill ?? No more than maybe a 100 innocent israelis if theyre lucky.

After all, it's just a report of a report from some Israeli intel bozo...

There hasn't been a suicide bombing inside the green line for
a while now. Atrocities against the settlers, yes. Attacks
against clearly military targets in "the territories", yes.
There certainly has been plenty of provocation, too.

But no bombings inside the green line, and especially no
restaurants and pizza parlors for a long time now. I don't
find any of the obvious explanations entirely convincing, so
I suspect it's to some degree deliberate.
