Just musing: a "whodunnit" theory roundup
Off the top of my head, this are the possibilities I've seen of who did it and why. Please add any I'm missing. I've roughly categorized these as "Jihad", "Small game", and "Big game".

"Jihad"
Al Qaeda, for the reasons most of us are familiar with
The ISI, to keep their bomb
The House of Saud, to warn/force the US to keep toeing the line

"Small game"
Silberstein, in the largest insurance scam in history
One or more of the Five Families, for various suggested reasons
Deutschebank and/or Citibank to cover the embezzlement of most of the gold in the US
Zakheim/Rumsfeld/etc. to cover the embezzlement of $2.6 trillion
Shin Beit/Mossad to help the Israeli tech industry recover by jump-starting the counterterrorism industry
Turkey, for reasons we won't know until Sibel is ungagged but which I'm tentatively classifying as "small game".
Cheney/etc. to keep firms like Halliburton from pulling an Enron

"Big game"
Cheney/etc. to start The Wars
Shin Beit/Mossad to start The Wars
The House of Saud, to start The Wars

Surely there are some more?
