Police officer who worked in 9/11 wreckage dies from lung disease
Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 08:51 AM by Hope2006
I remember some discussions here about Larry Silvestein's comment when he told officials "since there was such terrible loss of life, I told them to pull it" in reference to WTC7.

Many here have said that "pull" meant to demolish the building. Others have said that the term "pull" meant to pull everyone out of the building.

Well, here is a cop who was in WTC7 when it started to collapse. If the term "pull" meant to pull everyone out, why was this cop still in the building?

The story (in the link provided) is dated Jan 7, and, it looks like you have to sign up to be able to search the Post archives. I am therefore relying on what the DU'er posted.

And, of course we have Christie Whitman, on September 18, 2001, swearing that the environment around the WTC was "safe". Here was a very young man who died less than five years from the time he spent working at ground zero.

Yep, safe.

1. Silverstein was talking to the firefighters
Do the firefighters have any jurisidiction over what policemen do?

There was a lot of crap in the air around the WTC, especially the day of. I'm quite happy to include Ms. Whitman's comments in that accessment. The policeman probably got a major dose of a lot of pollutants, including crystalline silica, which was in the air.

2. Jurisdiction is kind of a weird term

to use when one's safety is at stake. If there were suspicion that WTC7 was going to collapse (and, some here have stated that there was such a suspicion) because of fire, then, it would seem to me that the building would have been evacuated for safety reasons. It's not as if the building only burned for an hour. It didn't collapse until much later in the day.

Not sure what you mean about being "quite happy" to include Ms. Whitman's comments? I checked the link you provided, and, her name is not mentioned.

3. There have been other deaths of workers at the 9/11 site
for the same reason and what struck me is that not only does the diabolical LIHOP/MIHOP continue to kill people, but these people are also Witnesses to the truth about 9/11 who will never to be heard from again. :(

4. I was thinking along similar lines
That police officer was in WTC7 when it began to collapse. He might have had some important things to say about what was happening in that building at that crucial time.

Good point!
