Blaming Clinton Again
I am listening to the Guy James Show and he was talking about how the Republicans are blaming Clinton for the lack of armor on the humvees. It does somewhat amaze me that Republicans are still blaming Clinton for things even four years after he left office. Also something that is funny is that went the moved into Iraq in three weeks the Republicans were congradulating Bush for doing such a good job with the military. Now that things are going wrong they are trying to blame the problems on Clinton. The problems with the armor are not the fault of Clinton. This is all Bush's fault. He was the one who chose to give tax cuts instead of putting money into military supplies. Bush was in office for three years before this war was started. He knew he was going to invade Iraq for at least one or two years. In that time he could have paid to have military vehicles armored. This armor thing is not the fault of the Democrats.

1. Responsibility...
Something that is foreign to the Bu$hies and their followers.

2. Who else could they blame?
We know they don't take responsibility. They can't blame Kerry. Clinton gets the blame for at least another 4-5 years.

3. A phrase to hammer * with for the next 4 years.
He was the one who chose to give tax cuts instead of putting money into military supplies.

Framing the debate that clearly SHOULD have been done during the election. We knew about the shortages for how long here on DU? It should have been brought up long ago.

But the past is over, it's a weapon we should use now to beat * over the head with.

4. I called that when the "Rummy" and Humvee story broke
When we went into Kuwait under bush-1, bush-1 said (paraphrased) a president has to depend on the military he was left with by the previous president....thank-you President Reagan....

so the repug logic is that we invaded Iraq with Clinton's military -- so it's not bush*'s fault our military is unprepared -- it's Clinton's fault that he didn't have the forsight to prepare the military to invade Iraq based on misleading spin and lies

The key here is CHOICE -- bush* CHOOSE to invade Iraq. There was no impending attack by Iraq on us, no threat that required an immediate response. This means bush* had time to prepare, to review the state of the military, beef it up if need be. We did not have to go to war with the military we have/had if it wasn't up to the task.

5. "If the Iraqi insurgents had told us that they were
going to use roadside bombs to blow up tanks and humvees, we would have prepared for that." ---Condaleeza Rice.
