Democratic Bush Enablers: partly to blame for his unaccountable powers?
This didn't happen in a vacuum. Bush* had help from (certain) Democratic enablers and appeasers every step of the way:

2000 election - No concerted effort from the Democratic party to count all the votes or investigate and prosecute civil rights abuses.

9-11 - Bush* & Cheney demanded that there not be an investigation that involved the White House. Democrats scoffed but then complied.

Iraq invasion and occupation, Patriotic Acts, Homeland Security - Bush* warned that Democrats would be considered 'unpatriotic' unless they voted to give him unaccountable powers not granted by the Constitution. They complied without debate.

2004 election - No concerted effort from the Democratic party to count all the votes or investigate and prosecute civil rights abuses.

---

Bush* wasn't being sarcastic when he said that 'everything had changed after 9-11' and that we were either 'with him or against him'. He was setting the stage for his unaccountable presidency* and drawing a line in the sand for the opposition.

Bush's* political advisors had predicted that the Democrats would do little or nothing if Bush* simply TOOK powers not granted him by the Constitution or a Democratic Republic. They knew that Democrats had accepted the lie that they were 'weak on national security' and would fall in line if Bush* declared himself a war president during a 'time of war'. Recent history had shown them that the Democratic leadership would follow and not try to lead.

As frightening as Bush* assuming all this power and believing he is above the law is the fact that too many Democrats refuse to challenge him on it. The Democratic party leadership has had dozens of opportunities to confront the Bushies on their unethical and criminal behavior. That they haven't taken advantage of any of these opportunities to use checks and balances to keep the Bushies accountable to the people should give pause to any Democrat considering voting for Bush* Enablers in 2006 and 2008.

The Bushies are indeed the 'bank robbers' that are plundering our treasury and future. But certain Democrats are driving the 'getaway car' and have become willing partners in the worst crimes ever committed against our once-proud nation and people.

2. Take a look at the laws passed since he took office.
The dems are equally as bad as the repubs. The prescription drug plan and the check 21 laws are signs that the American people no longer matter to anyone in office.

Add to that the New Freedom Initiative and you'll find our future generations are being bred to serve the state.

Each of these passed without a whimper from anyone. Check 21 and NFI passed without any coverage from the press.

16. So why then do we keep (trying) to vote them back into office?
Shouldn't we at least consider whether they have enabled/appeased the most corrupt WH in our history before we vote for them in 2004 and 2008?

The only way we're going to stop this cooperation between the Neocons and Neodems is to stop voting for them.

3. From 2000? No, from at least the 1980's. Looks at everything
Reagan and Bush 1 did and you don't see too many complaints from Democrats. There two should have been in jail, but the Democrats let them "ride off into the sunset". 8 years of Clinton bashing and how many Democrats came to the rescue? The repubs came out with the "contract with America". During those 8 wonderful years the Democrats had no new ideas. And they've been almost clams since * got in office. They could have had a lot of investigations when they had the senate. But nothing. And I could go on. I'm mad at the Democrats for doing nothing, but I really hate the repubs.

8. But 2000...
...was the first time someone was installed as president by the action of the supreme court stopping a legitimate recount and against the will of the majority. Everything literally fell apart from that point.

It's true that Reagan and Poppy Bush* got away with crimes against the state...but at least Iran/Contra and other scandals were actually investigated. But it's also true that it was the 80s when the Corporate Media began covering up the crimes of the Bush* Crime Family.

Many considered the witch hunt against Clinton to be a coup by the same Republicans that would later be 'rewarded' for their 'work' in the Bush II administration. There is a connection there to today in that the media showed itself to be hypocrites and traitors when they demonized Clinton and would later fail to make GWB accountable for anything...things that were more 'impeachable' than a blow job in the WH.

Yes...be angry at the Bushie Republicans for their many unethical and criminal acts. But we should never forget that they didn't get where they are today without the help of many Democrats.

4. When will the Democratic Leadership finally take a stand and shout Enough!
When will they finally say that America and the people are more important than their political careers or 'loyalty cash' from lobbyists?

6. MOSTLY to blame
Our system is set up with the expectation that those with power will try to abuse it, and those out of power must keep them in check.

Bush acted as the Founding Fathers expected. The Dems abdicated. They broke the system and it's their fault.

10. The enablers of the enablers would say that...
...the 'minority' Democrats had to pick and chose their 'fights'. My question is: when is that going to happen and is it now too late?

Bush* 'won' this election on the Iraq issue. Why? Because there was no real debate about this aggressive war in the opposition party.

Bin Laden and the Anthrax Killer are still on the loose. Why?

Our skies are dirty with pollution. Why?

The 'church' has become part of the state. Why?

Our treasury is being plundered for war and tax cuts for the rich while many go without. Why?

15. It's 'partly' because the media has to share blame in all of this...
...for continuing to cover up for the Bush* WH and helping they steal the WH twice.

13. Do you really think the party won't do anything about Bush*...
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 02:14 PM by Q
...because of the Anthrax? That MAY have something to do with it...but I'm more inclined to believe that some Democrats want the same thing as Bush* and have agreed to stay out of his way.

For instance...some Dems also want tax cuts for the rich (their campaign donors) and for Social Security to be privatized. Some want a permanent war in Iraq and other places. These particular Dems and anyone they can 'convince' to go along with them have provided the votes and support Bush* needs to call many of his efforts 'bipartisan'.

12. You Are So Right
and I also think we should start calling out those who have ponied up to the ***H trough, starting with Lieberman. Is there a ***H program this guy hasn't supported?

14. Keep an eye on Lieberman and others...
...for their support for Bush* as he 'collects' on his so-called political capital. I'd be willing to bet that they support Bush's* effort to privatize (Corporatize) Social Security and expansion of the Patriot Act.

17. Exactly...
And I think we should keep a very close eye on them, and let them know it. I noticed Reid started backing down from the statements he made cozying up to Scalia after the he was privately told if he wanted to keep the position for more than a year he better toughen up as regards to ***H and his gang of thugs. and remember he's a democrat
