Bush is AWOL while 5 million lives are at risk
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 04:20 PM by Stephanie

WHERE is he? Two appearances since the disaster struck - here they are -

Sun Dec 26

Wed Dec 29

Up to 5 million people around the tsunami-struck Indian Ocean region do not have access to the basics they need to stay alive — clean water, shelter, food, sanitation and health care, the U.N. World Health Organization (news - web sites) said, saying it needed $40 million dollars to get those supplies to victims. link

1. Honestly...
what is Bush going to do?

Its not like having him show his ugly mug is going to help or change the situation in Asia any.

8. I made this same observation to a Freeper
Their response was that Kofi is out skiing and has not been heard from either and that Sri Lanka turned away and Israeli team because it was top heavy in military people. Have not confirmed either of those points.

Seriously, there is not much Bush or Kofi Annan can do at this point. I do know that US Navy ships are headed over there now. Lest you think that is silly, Kauai got some of its power from a Navy ship after Iniki for a while, as well as food, water, and emergency supplies.

3. Has Bush made a public statement yet?
I thought he was planning to do so yesterday, but never saw it.

10. Is there a link stating that the message was pre-taped?
It's obvious when you look at the editing that it was not live, but is there any acknowledgement in the press? This is an astonishing factoid that I'd like to document. WHY is he incapable of making a live statement in the face of this epic disaster?

4. All politics; no policy
As many escaping from the WH noted, this regime does everything because of politics. These people will never attend a GOP fundraiser or vote for this crackhead, thus, who gives a flying fuck.

They have a much more difficult time with policy, something they avoided since the concept of government has little to do with outright theft. Many of the experienced professionals left in disgust long ago. (See today's Salon) The State Department doesn't have its shit together and under Condi, never will. They refuse to work with the UN because the "left behind" books recommend it be avoided as the anti-Christ.

Besides. As hard as it is to believe, as much as we wish to hold on to the concepts of "human kindness" junior simply could care less.

5. I wish he'd go AWOL permanently.
Everything he touches turns to shit. Whenever he makes a decision it's always wrong. He can stay in Crawford and chop wood for the next four years as far as I'm concerned.
