Why has no one noticed the absence of......
homeland security alerts? The war is going terrible, we continue to lose many Americans, Bil laden has encouraged the Sunni to not participate in the sham election, the insurgents attacks are growing deadly daily, we just lived(thank god!) thru Xmas and no one even mentioned a heightened protection with all the New years eve events including a million Americans at Times Square?

Why is no one questioning this?

1. Security alerts are not good for Wall Street
during Xmas and New Years. Bush has his priorities.

2. That was just a scare tactic to get people to vote for Bush. It will be...
...put on hold until the 2006 election season starts up.

the heat off this admin, though made shrubbie look like a punk, as he is.

5. Of course you are all correct BUT
Why has the media or other citizens whom were not paying attention question this?

8. You haven't been around for awhile.
The mainsteam media are in cahoots with the shrub admin. That about sums it up. Lots going on if you care to look it up in archives, but we can all agree on the fact that the media is not telling both sides of the story, for whaterver reason they might have.

9. Because they were not paying attention as you said
Who wants to think of terrorists when we're talking Wall Street and tsunamis?

The poor victims are our kids fighting an insane and foundless war. See at www.icasualties.org. They are the true victims of the season.

Wall street doesn't want them mentioned and their injuries and deaths are minimized by the hugeness of the Tsunamis. The Tsunami is a natural event, Iraq is a Bush event.

13. Lifesaver Candies refused to contribute $ to *'s campaign
So now * needs a new color scheme. Perhaps we'll see the colors of Lucky Charms or the TeleTubbies in the next HS Alert chart.

11. there will be more "terra-lerts"
bush* is gearing up to invade Iran and/or Syria...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1115333

groundwork was first laid when NO WMDs were found in Iraq -- remember the spin about how they were moved into Syria?

Now we are hearing how Iran and Syria are supporting the insurgents and not doing enough to curb terra-ist activity

we'll get the terra-terra-terra-lerts about a couple of months before the invasion into Iraq/Syria begins.

Think congress will stop it? Don't count on it. bushies will use the previous resolution for the Iraq invasion as giving bush* the authority -- it will be spun as being an extension of the search for WMDs so NO NEW RESOLUTION/APPROVAL will be required

if by a long-shot -- that spin fails -- a REAL terra-ttack will be forthcoming and blamed on Iran/Syria

17. Yep, I've been monitoring
freeper Jeremy Raynalds website and he seems like he's not generating so much noise anymore. I could always tell when an alert was coming because he would start generating a lot of stories a week or two before the alert. Seems since the GOP Convention he hasn't been very active.

Asylum Seeker's Death Sparks Outrage

MIAMI — When the Rev. Joseph Dantica flew here from Haiti, his family said, he was seeking a momentary respite from the strife and violence convulsing his native land. Instead, the 81-year-old Baptist clergyman died in federal custody, separated from his family and medicine that he was carrying to treat his ailments.

The death of the pastor, who was detained at Miami International Airport after requesting temporary asylum, has provoked lasting anger and outrage that have rippled far beyond the Haitian American community. Dantica was a longtime spiritual leader and frequent visitor to the United States who had a valid entry visa and family members in this country.

"To let this man who came with such hopes die is really, really, really aggravating to the community. It has been the subject of questions, expressions of anger, disappointment and helplessness," said Marleine Bastien, founder and executive director of Haitian Women of Miami Inc., an advocacy group.

Dantica died in a Miami hospital Nov. 3 while in Department of Homeland Security custody. The pathos of a frail and aged man dying apart from his family, plus the fact that his niece, Edwidge Danticat, is a prominent Haitian American author, have kept this case in the spotlight.

"The way my uncle was treated was so emblematic of the way Haitian asylum seekers are treated here. Their stories are not believed, they are immediately detained, sometimes for years, and the majority are deported," Danticat said. (Her family name is spelled differently, she explained, because of an error made on her father's birth certificate.)

That is an interesting point, though. Where is our color-coded fearmongering instrument of death and destruction?
