Maybe what the Democratic party needs is a Loyalty Oath?
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 09:25 AM by Q
Is there too much Democratic bashing and trashing going on? Too much criticism of a minority party constantly getting beat up by mean and nasty Republicans? Are we being too hard on them for losing the White House, Senate, Congress and the kitchen sink? Should we just SHUT UP! about the warmongering, worker-hating, corporate-loving DLC?

Could be. But as everyone knows...getting Democrats together on anything is like 'herding cats'. So what could be done to 'unify' the party and makes us all think and act alike?

The answer could be a: LOYALTY OATH!

Think about it. George and Dick had a loyalty oath, Republicans never criticize one of their own and as it turns out they 'won' two elections in a row. Therefore it's obvious that Democrats criticizing Democrats is costing us elections.

So let's get busy and design just the right oath...with the proper punishments and penalties for those who step out of line and say something negative about one of our own.

Who's with me here? Let's win in 2006 and 2008 by pledging never to say bad things about Democrats. It could work!

2. No
We just need to get back to the basics and listen to what people in the working class have to say. That's where the need is, we need to redefine our message.

4. No, the "Big Shot" Dems need to be more loyal to...
the core beliefs of the party, and to the rank-and-file little guys who make up the party.

Dems must stand for what we believe (and can NOT be GOP-lite anymore) or we will be toast.

5. Assuming this is not a joke
I had to sign a loyalty oath for the Democratic Party. That's why I left the DEC. Unfortunately there are a few Democrats that just happen to be dirt-bags.

I don't mind some reasonable discussion of the pros and cons of a Dem candidate's positions, but some of the stuff on DU goes over the top. It would be nice to see the rhetoric get toned down a little. Maybe asking people to link to some data for their assertions might help. Labels like he/she's a "DLC" or "skull and bones", or "too rich" as if it's a given negative assumption, make my eyes glaze over. Give me the specific facts, and I'll pay attention.

6. We do need to learn a lesson from the Repugs
but it isn't that. It's reframing. We need to learn how to frame our Democratic values succinctly. They know it. We need to learn it.
