How I am staying sane....my post election day strategy....
No, it's not very activist/proactive in nature....it is purely therapy and a way to get some energy back into my life after the incredibly disappointing, unforgivable, embarassing devastation that was election day. I've cancelled our daily newspaper (we get only the Sunday NY Times and even that seems highly flawed toward the right/liars)....I have not watched ANY television that was not sports or weather - my wife and I are spending loads of quality time hiking, reading, listening to music - there IS work, of course, but there is always a way to get through the day.

I guess my suspicion is that we are in a cultural morass - (geez, a pun there, in that there are more asses around than ever before...) that will likely have to work itself out over who knows how many years. This is my first post since before the election (except a series of commentary during *'s so called news conference a month or so ago). Things just don't make much sense right now - right is wrong, black is white - my main disappointment is in the media for letting this happen right in front of their noses, meaning that $$$$$ tells the whole story. That so many people - even people that I respect - can't see through our idiot president and the criminals that he surrounds himself with seems like a huge collective character flaw. I wish I knew what it was....then again, those same people I respect so much waste so much of their time on useless reality shows and similar wastes of time....our society has largely become made up of very small people indeed. We are capable of so much more...a pity.

I am so impressed with all of those who got involved with the voter fraud activities - I do believe that the election was stolen. I just did not have the energy to put in to fighting that so many of you did. I get the majority of my news from DU. It is an honor to read the incredible posts that so many of you make - there is so much integrity, and good, and hope here.

1. Glad you are getting your head together. Heaven knows some days
I don't want to get out of bed, I am still so depressed over the election. But I find it very helpful to chisel away at our troubles at the ground level. I am praying hard that we get Instant Runoff Voting here in Maine.

4. Thanks so much - very interesting, thought provoking, revealing...
When I was a bit younger, I read a series of books called the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. Whether there are religious allegories implied or not is not my point....it is that our current culture reminds me of a chapter in the book The Last Battle when a group of people who worshiped the evil character could not be persuaded to see the truth, even when given proof. What we seem to have is over half of the country (at least the half that voted) under a sort of hypnosis, a spell, a highly distorted view of Bush. It reminds me of religious fanaticism.....and just reinforces in me the belief that so many today that think that they are "saved" have another thing coming!

5. Know exactly how you feel
My first action after the debacle was a total swearing completely off our local right-wing AM talk radio show - WBT-Charlotte. My husband and I have been off any TV for years. My second action was purchasing an XM satellite radio/boombox which I am truly enjoying. I also appreciate this forum. Haven't posted much but check in here daily for the news.
