Trippi endorses Rosenberg, not Dean, for DNC Chair
Announcement from Rosenberg's web site: http://blog.simonforchair.org/blog/archives/2005/01/joe_trippi_endo.html

You'll recall that Joe Trippi was a top Dean consultant -- and one whom not all "Deaniacs" fondly recall.

5. Always was, always will be.
I remember the video of the meltdown of the Dean campaign. Trippi was just totally lost. He had no idea what he was doing. They did so much dumb stuff and wasted tons of money.

15. LOL
Well with the wonders of the internet and reading Trippi's book and how he spends many hours searching the net, i'm sure he's reading the comments like this one calling him an idiot.

However, I don't think he's an idiot for endorsing Rosenberg. I'd rather he had endorsed Dean for chairman, but the fact still remains that he still thinks highly enough of Dean that he thinks Dean should run for US Senate or President. Trippi is a visonary so even though I sitll want to see Dean as chairman I respect Trippi's opinion.

Loyalty is one thing, but we have the sense to recognize a fool when we see one. Trippi is a classic example and I'm just sorry Gov. Dean didn't unload him earlier. I hope Trippi has a long and happy life being Chris Matthews' spitbucket.

I think Dean, at least at this point, has a better shot than Rosenberg, but I would have no problem with Rosenberg as chair.

16. Actually
Trippi shaped a lot of that campaign. Anything internet releated I believe was Trippi's idea to impliment on the campaign. So I don't think it's fair to say that Dean was the campaign and that's all. Trippi had a lot to do with making that campaign what it was.

I think what really happened was that Dean and Kate O' Connor never trusted Trippi enough to let him be a part of the "inner circle". I'd advise everyone to read Trippi's book "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" it really gives you a lot of information on that campaign as well as the future.

21. Trippi and innovation
Trippi shaped a lot of that campaign. Anything internet releated (sic) I believe was Trippi's idea to impliment on the campaign. So I don't think it's fair to say that Dean was the campaign and that's all. Trippi had a lot to do with making that campaign what it was.

I have no first-hand knowledge either way. But on the Kerry campaign, I did hear ex-Dean staff claim that many of the "internet innovations" Trippi is usually credited for, didn't originate with Trippi.

Again, that's all at second-hand, and the people I heard this from virulently disliked Trippi, so take it for what it's worth.

6. A choice of two rightwing hacks? Just leave the DNC chair empty....
....I say leave the position of DNC chair unfilled. All the politicians who are being promoted by the rightwing media, the rightwing Democratic party leadership, and the rightwing Democratic party activists online, are all rightwing politicians, at least when it comes to taxes, trade, and the welfare state.

Well, I am leftwinger, so I support none of them. I say, better NO DNC chair, than a rightwing chair

read this:
www.sf.indymedia.org/news/2003/12/1668089.php

I have seen no politician that I would support.

I find it sad that so many Democrats are caught up in this trap of working for and supporting politicians. If you really want to move America to the left, you need to create a Leftist consciousness in this country. Politicians do not create any sort of consciousness, they only capitalize on what is out there. What is out there now is what have been generated by the corporate propaganda machine, and capitalized upon by the GOP propaganda machine and their politicians.

We need to create our OWN propaganda machine....not support these obsessed and driven egotists....

14. Democrats support politicians because
IT'S POLITICS! Who are you going to support? No one. Should dems just abandon politics? Maybe leave it all to the Republicans because they know better. I get your point, but your method is a failure before it gets out of the gate. Especially if you compare it to Dean's plans for the party.

I also want to create a leftist consciousness in this country. But how are we going to do that? Do we take a semi-organized and resourced approach or do we start out in the St. Marks church in NYC? I saw that we go for the semi-organized approach. People that share their values working together simultaneously to reach millions instead of one by one.

We do need to create our own "propaganda" machine. For dems/leftists, we have to start from the ground up. The pukes/corporations start with the money and work down to the people. Their approach is more effective in the short term. Dean's is more effective in the long term big picture.

29. Leave it to the republicans? Actually, that's not a bad idea.

With the four branches (I include the M$M as the propaganda branch)of govt in the hands of the repugs, there's not much that dems can actually do. Besides which, after the last sixteen years without a dem president (and Clinton as an agent of the DLC doesn't qualify as a dem president) the party is effectively dead without finding some new leadership.

As of this election the repugs will be responsible for the utter destruction of a nation. And as dumb as the citizenry is, they damn well deserve it. Perhaps the best thing that dems can now do is to completely opt out of the governing process.

I mean that all dem representatives and senators should have 100% attendance records but vote neither yea or nae, but abstain in all votes.

Then, in 2008 IF there ever is another election in this country, they'll be able to stand up and say to the country "Look what they have done to you. Now if you're ready to get your country back, we will do it for you, but this time no back sniping. Let's have reasonable and courteous political discussion once more. No red state, blue state. Just American states."

Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 11:38 PM by eg101
Yeah, I heard that same thing ("thanks, but no thanks") on November 2, 2004, and November 2, 2000, as well. It sounded like it came from a bunch of ballot boxes....

And as long as the Democratic party and its rightwing hacks continue to say "thanks, but no thanks" to the politics of the people, then I am sure the party will continue to get similar feedback from the voters....

17. Hmmm
Do you really think the Dick Morris comparison is a equal one? I think that's a bit harsh. However, you say you are a former friend of Mr. Trippi so I assume you know a lot more than others on DU about Trippi.

I don't think Trippi has ever really been that critical of Dean as to warrant a Dick Morris comparison. Dick Morris hurt himself and could never realize that it was his own fault. He blamed it all on the Clinton's and continues to do it because FOX will pay him to say these things.

11. Joe, you are going to have to actually win a campaign at some point.
"...began his political career working on Edward M. Kennedy's presidential campaign in 1980. His work in presidential politics continued with the campaigns of Walter Mondale, Gary Hart, Richard Gephardt and most recently Howard Dean."

20. Well...
In all honesty there has only been one Democrat to win the Presidency in all those years and it was Clinton. I don't think you can blame that streak on Joe, he worked for all the Dems who tried to run for President and lost. As a Democrat, and a political operative you work one side of the isle. Unfortunatley when it comes to our side of the isle the Dems have not been so great with presidents in the past three decades. We had two Carter and Clinton.

Spend all the money, or I should say pay all the money from the campaign to himself and now he is indignant....what's this shit...."I can work with...." what a slam. Bought and paid for.

What an arrogant SOB.......Howard Dean is gutsy enough to make the necessary changes....and he isn't a ProLifer....he is for National Healthcare.....reasonable gun laws.....saw the shit about the Iraqi War and called it.

GO HOWARD.....NO BULLSHIT.....DEAN

And if Dean doesn't get the Chair, it just means you can book him for an '08 run for the White House. Seems like a win-win situation to me.

Plus, I like what Rosenberg says. He may not serve up the red meat like Dean does, but he gets it.

Anybody but Roemer or anyone else endorsed by the DC muckymucks, as far as I'm concerned.
