2. Like him or not, he'll be President on charisma alone...
that is, if he isn't "stopped" first.

4. NO Reasonable Politician Would Be For Protectionism.
It'd be economically irresponsible.

Doesn't mean there shouldn't be regulations and ENFORCEMENT OF EXISTING LAWS (which isn't currently happening under the BFEE).

Kneejerk reactions don't go very far in the Real World.

I got my own opinion, based on a lifetime of experience and a handful of college degrees.

7. Good for him
Protectionist policies like steel tariffs and sugar subsidies are usually purely political manuevers, and end up hurting the economy in the long run.

Calling for labor and environmental standards in trade agreements is something else entirely, and I believe Obama said he is in favor of doing that.

10. protectionist is protectionist
labor arbitrage is where they are sticking it to us, and protectionism is all about stopping labor arbitrage. Now Obama has already sent out the message that he is no protectionist. He said so. And the WSJ and the DLC have already rewarded him with approval.

12. Do you have a quote?
I seem to remember him say that he was for "Fair Trade" and that we should hold China accountable for human rights before opening trade with them.

8. It will take Obama...

or someone with his qualities for our side to win the Whitehouse. We can't win with someone who will tie at best. There is fraud, but only on a scale to push the Republicans to a win in a close election. Kerry tied, maybe had a very slight advantage. We can't win those. We need a 6-7 point win. Fraud can swing 2-3 points at most. Someone like Obama can give us the 6-7 point pad that can't be stolen.
