I saw a HUGE church sign today that welcomed all to attend their conference on the sanctity of life and love....

the sanctity of love part is new in the lexicon imo....keep your eyes peeled for it at a church near you...it will then creep into the vocabulary as code for those satan worshiping homos that are subhuman.

man these people are over the top. and it hasn't been on for 5 minutes yet. and they (the people in this church) actually think they are going to the promised land. what the fuc* has this country come to.

I am not gay, nor is anyone in my family (that I know off anyway) but this is a huge issue for me. It hurts that we are still so ignorant in this country.

did a show on charity or giving . mostly focused on the tsunami effort. but the show was about why people who give some causes and not others. it was really interesting.

i live on the west coat but will check out today's show also.

i don't care for those late night comedy shows much. i wish nightline would expand to an hour. they are one of the few news shows still worth watching.

I just had 2 days of trying to argue with a winger who is anti-gay, but claims that he doesn't have anything against gays as long as they are not "active" and that it is the same as pedophilia. After about 11 pages of trying to convince him, he kept falling back on the "they are immoral and gross!!" defense, then turned it into the bestiality/pedophilia/etc "comparison."

Look if you cannot tell the difference between an adult who can make their own decisions and a child and a non-human animal then you have way too many issues for me to be able to comprehend.

Then to not understand the level of violence and ridicule that happens from people who find homosexuality to be a deviation against God's will.....

in Esquire magazine and basically he said about these gay bashing types...and I'm paraphrasing..."In 40 years we will look back at this time and liken the gay bashers to the people who stood on the steps of the school house with George Wallace" He's right, history will shame these people one day...not soon enough unfortunately

even his fundagelical church will be open to gay marriage. That makes him livid, but I could be right.

One thing you have to consider though is that his "church" is ver small and doesn't extend far beyond his (Barely branching) family tree. This guy is a joke.

I am used to nobody taking phelps seriously but I forget there are those in small towns who would be really bothered by something like this. It's hard enough to come out to your family in that environment let alone have Phelps and company show up in your tiny town with nasty flyers about you to picket your church. sickening. :(

I think liberal Christians have to find a way to educate people that there is another way to read the bible. People are not going to give up religion. But they can be educated to better ways of interpreting the bible. If I knew where to start I would take the job on.

I should be glad they took that step and not expect mountains to be moved in a day.

about 70 miles west of Tulsa. Actually grew up in Tulsa. This whole story made a splash when the Post story hit. There was quite a large counter-demonstration outside the high school and I suppose we should be grateful for that.

My Rev. hubby and I were just waiting for the "love the sinner, hate the sin" lines and we weren't disappointed.

It all boils down to their impoverished interpretation of theology and the bible. I doubt this can be changed much. As my Rev. hubby says, most people are sheep. Why else are congregations called "flocks"?

Good Christ, who would you choose to live a life of discrimination and vitriolic hatred thrown your way. But the fundies just won't accept that being gay is biological and not a choice. I think it's because they believe we are made in god's image, and if god made gay people......LOL......god just might be gay. Wouldn't that just blow their feeble little minds when they "get to heaven".
