3. I disagree.
The old man has some decent judgement from time to time and Elanor is a far more dependable spokesman for our side than either Shields or Carlson or Hunt.

4. The problem with the "Group" is that poor Eleanor is rarely heard.
That miserable Tony Blankley (and others on the right) usually just talk over her or shout her down. I just got tired of those windbags. And although McLaughlin may have some decent judgment (I agree with that) more often than not he is shoving his viewpoint down everybody's throat, and frankly is just a big ego and a ham. These are subjective views, of course. For years, I never missed that program.

But I gotta tell you that Mark Shields above the others on TCG is a very politically shrewd voice for our side. He is smart and sharp all the time.

5. soemthing you might find interesting if you haven't watched in a while ...
The old man MAKES Tony shut up so Eleanor can speak. And she does. Her judgement is good and her voice loud and clear. The old man pretty much opposed the Iraq debacle and my respect for his judgement on some things as well as his honesty has risen over the last year.

I look forward to both he and Eleanor each week. And yes he is a HAM and that kinda makes it a bit more fun. So much a ham that it's kitsch.

12. I was watching a couple of weeks ago
and Blankley was spinning some crap about how Social Security will run out of money blah blah blah, then McLaughlin interrupted yelling "Tell the rest of the story Tony, that's not going to happen for 38 years!"

It was pretty funny if (like us) you enjoy that sort of thing.

13. Shields is a gem.
He's definitely one of the sanest voices in the pundit class, and he's a decent guy, too -- very much driven by values. I hope he has a long, healthy life and remains a presence in the media in all its forms.

9. I wish the show would replace Toadie Blankslate with a true,
objective conservative. While I do enjoy McLaughlin calling him what he is, a Bu$h cheerleader, TB brings down the whole panel with his obnoxious remarks toward Eleanor Clift.

11. That miserable lowbrow crap?
The M Group was the progenitor of all the foodfight political shows on TV, and took political discourse in this country into the crapper. IIRC, Novak was a panel member.

This kind of show appeals to the same dumb clucks that watch the Best Damn Sports Show and its imitators. Knuckledraggers watching other knuckledraggers screaming and chestthumping at each other.
