Disgusted and Sick
Have to remove myself from DU, can't stand anymore politics today. I have never felt so helpless and overwhelmed. I need to get out of the house in my all black. I am disgusted with this country and all those that can not see that it is a dog and pony show that we have for a so called free press. I'm glad that I do believe in the here in after because the life here on earth is only a nano second in terms of eternity, it gives me peace to know that no one associated with this evil cabal will be anywhere near me for eternity. I can't believe my faith is giving me the only comfort I can find today. I am not a Bible thumping holy roller, but I do find it ironic. According to a pasage from Matthew, I don't know exactly which verse but it is about feeding, clothing and ministering to Jesus when he was cold, hungry and naked, I can not believe that Jesus believed in trickle down economics or in *'s verson of freedom or compassion. I do get comfort in the fact that for a few short years on earth * and his ilk will be so called at the top but I do not want to be anywhere near these evil people when they pass away because the giant sucking sound of everything near and dear to them that will go down with them will be huge. Rambling but it is excused for today.

1. I Totally Understand, Cindy
I wish you all the best. This is a dark day for most of us. Thank you for your words, and may your faith sustain you always.

You're the best, and I hope you keep in touch, even if it's only in the Clark forum. :-)

2. You are NOT alone-
I keep thinking of this wonderful gypsy curse
and I am chanting it to the people in this country
who have brought this horrific situation to our
doors-
"May you get what you wish for."
And that is my mantra to the sheople today.
Just sit back and watch- they have wrought
their own demise today. May you find comfort
in that fact.

9. THAT is my favorite curse.
"There are only two tragedies in this world. One is not getting what one wants. The other is getting what one wants. The second is infinitely worse."

12. It is all we have left.
The ONLY shining promise in our futures
at this point is the certainty that the Bush War Criminal
"accomplices by support and votes" will ultimately
become his victims.
There is nothing else to look forward to.

3. Hang in there, baby
It's always darkest before dawn.
IMHO, this is their high point. I hope they enjoy it, because it will be all downhill from here for them.

4. It can be hard..
.... to keep an optimistic outlook given the current circumstances. I hope taking a break helps you. I get comfort from knowing I'm not a part of the madness that is going on in Washington, and that in the fullness of time truth and right will win out.

5. That would be the 25th chapter of Matthew
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 02:05 PM by AntiCoup2K4
Reproduced here from "The Message", which I believe to be one of the best 21st century translations of the Word......

"When he finally arrives, blazing in beauty and all his angels with him, the Son of Man will take his place on his glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged before him and he will sort the people out, much as a shepherd sorts out sheep and goats, putting sheep to his right and goats to his left.

"Then the King will say to those on his right, "Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what's coming to you in this kingdom. It's been ready for you since the world's foundation. And here's why:

I was hungry and you fed me,

I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,

I was homeless and you gave me a room,

I was shivering and you gave me clothes,

I was sick and you stopped to visit,

I was in prison and you came to me.'

"Then those "sheep' are going to say, "Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, "I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me--you did it to me.'

"Then he will turn to the "goats,' the ones on his left, and say, "Get out, worthless goats! You're good for nothing but the fires of hell. And why? Because--

I was hungry and you gave me no meal,

I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,

I was homeless and you gave me no bed,

I was shivering and you gave me no clothes,

Sick and in prison, and you never visited.'

"Then those "goats' are going to say, "Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or homeless or shivering or sick or in prison and didn't help?'

"He will answer them, "I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you failed to do one of these things to someone who was being overlooked or ignored, that was me--you failed to do it to me.'

"Then those "goats' will be herded to their eternal doom, but the "sheep' to their eternal reward."

EDIT: I think it's safe to say that the "sheep" in this parable are NOT Busheep, and that "right" and "left" are certainly not as they are defined politically.

6. It's really not all that bad in context.
The onrolling years will tend to wash away any sins committed by Bushco, the left will again have its day in the sun eventually, all politics working like a pendulum in the end and being as dependent on the sine wave as is the rest of the natural world.

You must always remember that you are receiving just one side here, and that the totality of the thing encompasses both sides. While we agree our values are on this side, we should also accept that there is another view of necessity, so that there can be balance. I urge you not to shut out the views of the other side. You do not have to accept them, but at least accept that other human beings of equal intellect and standing as yourself do accept them. I have many Republican friends, prefering myself to be gregarious rather than to become entrapped in jail of a hard-line philosophy, where I am right but not happy. My GOP friends are like the rest of humanity in all ways.

Lastly, you will breathe in and out, you will be able to experience and use all of your senses and you will live, regardless of political winds. Trust in the miracle of your own life and touch base with the greater truths you mention in your post. Alongside them, the rhetoric of mere mortals is miniscule.

Please look at the entire sphere from a long and broad view, not just a portion you cleave to and that causes you discomfort. Adapt to the now; it is really the only place anything is happening. Stay strong in your views, but please avoid apocalyptic scenarios and don't allow your positions to drag you into unhappiness. Conflict is not necessary for firmly held views, so avoid it. Remember the forest as you look at the trees. I wish you peace.

8. I'm A Teacher, And I'm Wearing Black Today
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 02:10 PM by Dinger
I called several of my colleagues last night, and they are wearing black as well. Also, my mom made black ribbons, and I am wearing one & gave several out. Several of us teachers are wearing black clothes, with black ribbons in class today! I think I'll wear the black ribbon every day till we take back the White House! . . . Just a suggestion:)

13. Overwhelmed with sadness
There's a heaviness in my heart and soul that I suspect will not go away any time soon. May we all somehow find peace in the midst of madness.

14. Hang in here... wearing black too..
As you all are.. I am wearing black... just rejoice in the solidarity with those who have chosen to wear black today...

and be comforted that the whole BushCo machine has just begun to unravel.... Lets take this anger and disgust and turn it into a new progressive movement to undo the evil that has been bestowed upon us.
