What exactly is a mandate?
What is the true definition? because is it just me or is Bush and the media trying to re-write the definition? I thought the presidential race was close, and Bush is talking and acting as if he won in a landslide.. and there was someone who called into sound off for my paper that said bush won in a landslide.

I know Bush likes to make up his own reality but why do people buy it? Is a mandate a majority vote?

2. mandate--the term for a guy
going out with another guy to dinner, and maybe a nice movie.

Perhaps even a nightcap.

13. of course!
but not in America. We're the only "advanced" nation that grows women unworthy of holding the highest political office in the land. Therefore, we Americans cannot give any woman a WoManDate.

9. John F. Kennedy said...
"The margin is narrow, but the responsibility is clear. There may be difficulties with the Congress, but a margin of only one vote would still be a mandate”

How do we reconcile THAT?

11. FDR in 1936 and 1940
had a mandate. When you win all but Maine and Vermont and control 75 seats in the Senate, it's pretty clear the people are on your side.
