From Daily Kos, signed by all past and present Kos management, and a growing host of other blogs, including this one. Excerpts follow, read the whole thing. Kos gets millions of hits and is probably the foremost liberal/leftie blog and will take serious hits and attacks because of this. Let’s support him.

No on Gonzales. Unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions. In this case, we, the undersigned bloggers, have decided to speak as one and collectively author a document of opposition. We oppose the nomination of Alberto Gonzales to the position of Attorney General of the United States, and we urge every United States Senator to vote against him.

As the prime legal architect for the policy of torture adopted by the Bush Administration, Gonzales’s advice led directly to the abandonment of longstanding federal laws, the Geneva Convention, and the United States Constitution itself. Our country, in following Gonzales’s legal opinions, has forsaken its commitment to human rights and the rule of law and shamed itself before the world with our conduct at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib. The United States, a nation founded on respect for law and human rights, should not have as its Attorney General the architect of the law’s undoing.

With this nomination, we have arrived at a crossroads as a nation. Now is the time for all citizens of conscience to stand up and take responsibility for what the world saw, and, truly, much that we have not seen, at Abu Ghraib and elsewhere. We oppose the confirmation of Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General of the United States, and we urge the Senate to reject him.

This will be the IWR for the next democratic primary.

"He voted for Gonzales- I opposed." - said in the primary.

"Why are you criticising Bush's policy? you approved Bush's attorney general!"- said in the presidential debate.

He manipulated the law to win one for torture.

Remember the crap we went through for years when Clinton said - it depends on what is is - in relation to a sex lie cover-up. He didn't even manipulate the law and the constitution or world treaties and you would have thought the world ended because the White House was 'disgraced', they said.

Well, torture is a desgrace. We are disgraced.

Brought by Gonzales in a little gift to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the cabal.

I sent emails to their CA offices with the link so they would know what is going on.

out of power. The heck with the precedent that idjot Repukes will say they take this as for when there is a Democratic President. They'll make up something anyways, so it doesn't really matter what they think is being set as a precedent.

Our international allies need to know that even if Republicans support torture, Democrats do NOT support torture. This will be very important when/if Dems are able to take back power over our government. We don't have control over what the Repukes do or their integrety, but we have FULL control over our own.

18. Yeah, well Repugs are in the majority and it appears they support torture.
Even if most Americans don't know that Repugs support torture. The way to show that Americans don't support torture is by showing that WE Democrats don't support torture and then taking back control of the government. That's the only credible way I know of.

We need to get everyone to Furl (http://www.furl.net/index.jsp ) and Delicious (http://del.icio.us /) all of these blogs together.

Use the same description: “Vote No on Gonzales. Vote No to Torture”
