When the USA hits rock-bottom, like an alcoholic, which it soon will ...
Will the facilitators (the GOP) realize their role as extreme enablers in the total distruction of our dear countries' democracy?

4. They will want 'hair of the dog' - even more de-regulation, privatization
and all of the 'miracle of the free market' crap that is spewed by right-wing think tanks.

They will say that the problems are due to 'government interference' with free enterprise, and that if we just let corporations have more freedom to prosper, everything would take care of itself...

10. NAO, "hair of dog",: remind them that's how Great Depression happened
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 09:27 PM by oscar111
Hoover kept his "business-led prosperity" policies from the Crash in '29 to his ouster in '32 election.

Business-led prosperity caused the '3O's.

Best reply ever to freepers "more dereg" ideas.

225 outright starved to death in NYC in early thirties. Hospital records. Who know how many thousands starved in the rest of our country? Very hard to find this data. Very. Took me many googles and emails to academics to find even this small part of the picture. Even they did not know the national death toll of '3O's.

Such an obvious statistic to ask about. Why is it not in high school textbooks?

very few voters will google and email like i did to dig up some of it.

8. In 1930...
... Hoover had the slogan that "prosperity was just around the corner." Never was there a more significant failure on the part of a politician to acknowledge reality until the Dubya years. If history proves to repeat itself, as it often does, this bunch of Republicans won't admit their culpability in the mess any more than did Hoover....

12. No, The Republicans Will Remain In Denial
No, when the Republic hits bottom, it will be the rest of the electorate that will turn on Republican incumbents and sling their kiesters out of appointed and elected offices. Hard-core Republicans and their "conservative" (reactionary) allies will remain in as much in denial as to their role in ruining the lives, hopes, health, and aspirations of hundreds of millions of Americans as German neo-Nazis remain about the effect of the Nazi Party on Germany.

15. Its funny, because our president is an alcoholic
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 10:05 PM by ComerPerro
Wait... that's not funny...

damn. It's depressing.

And, your question is a tricky one. The GOP itself will realize its role, because I believe they know exactly what they are doing. But, they won't care, because they will all have made themselves quite rich.

But, as for the GOP voters, no, they won't be aware that their party has sold out America while screwing them over in the process. In fact, GOP voters will probably blame the Democrats (despite Republican controlled White House, Congress, and media).

Once all is lost these oily fascist loving turds can begin ...

The New Feudalism.

Richard PNAC Perle even started a company to cash in on the next thing: Trireme Partnerships. He had the brights to ask Adnan Khashoggi for a 100 mil.
