Boxer on "49 countries listed as not free" and Bush's "Freedom Jihad"
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/26/rice.confirmation/index.html

"Boxer, one of two Democrats to vote against Rice's nomination in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said Rice's answers to her questions were "completely nonresponsive" and raised more issues about her credibility than they answered. "President Bush in his inaugural address talked about bringing freedom to countries that don't have it. He didn't specify how," Boxer said.

But since the human rights group Freedom House lists 49 countries as "not free," she said, "I worry about sending more troops on military missions based on hyped-up rhetoric. And that's why these questions are so important."

MEANWHILE, The former Mr. Elizabeth Taylor, Sen. John Warner (R-Virginia), offered his two cents' worth in the "How Dare You Criticize Condi" Olympics:

"Sen. John Warner, R-Virginia, defended Rice, calling attacks on her integrity "somewhat astonishing" and noted that many governments had considered Iraq "a grave and gathering threat."

"I do not find any disloyalty, any lack of truthfulness in her remarks publicly throughout this process as it related to the earlier base of knowledge of weapons of mass destruction," said Warner, the chairman of the Armed Services Committee."

If they concede that she was LYING, or misleading, or hyping, they realize that THEY TOO will be looked upon as GUILTY.

7. Oh wow
That's the second time in a week Babs and I have quoted the same info. Bush's policies have made the world less free. Also according to Freedom House:

“reports that in the Middle East and North Africa, a breeding ground for global terrorism, … downward trends have outpaced gains post-9/11”. And that, “the war on terrorism has also enabled some of the world’s most repressive states—such as Uzbekistan in Central Asia and the People’s Republic of China—to invoke counterterrorism as an explanation for their ongoing harsh and unjustifiable repression and intimidation of dissent.”
