5. There was no vote FOR the war...there was a vote for authorization
if force was necessary.

Remember Kerry's point during the campaign? Bush abuse the trust placed in him by the Senate.

8. Yeah , that was a real forceful point during the campaign.
Amazing that we lost.

This is why the Dems lose. We "oppose" the war, but vote for Bush to do whatever he wants.

There is no need for congress to authorize the use of force in self defense. There was no need to support this vote, except to jock Bush.

21. If you can't (or won't) articulate your own candidate's stance
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 03:25 PM by rockymountaindem
and wrap your mind around the facts, then how exactly are you contributing? Instead you're using the simplest interpretation of Kerry's (and other Democrats') actions to bash the party and the campaign. I know other people who did that, and they are called neocons.

24. Who gives a f- about my candidates stance?
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 04:27 PM by mdmc
This is my stance - as a party Democrat (I'm not on the DNC or even the NYS Dem committee, but I AM on my local committee).

MY PARTY IS NO DIFFERENT THEN THE GOP. MY PARTY IS NEOCON.

I'm fighting the neocons from the inside. I see 2004 as a victory in that we were able to get one Senator to have a backbone. To me, that is a 100% improvement from 2000.

to fully believe Saddam had stockpiles of WMDs.

26. Congress does not need to approve self defense
this vote was to cheer lead for war in the disguise of patriotism.

22. So he learned from his mistake. One hopefully he won't make again.
Besides then they were lined up behind Daschle. Bush was newly elected, no one knew then how duplicitous he and his administration were. Now they know and we don't expect them to make it easy for the Rethugs to roll over us as they did during the first term.

10. So then, why did he vote YES to confirm Rice?
Didn't match his action to his rhetoric there.

18. Yes, he did for for Rice. It appears the man talks a good game
but then votes his support for the Bush Gang. Now that we know he voted for the war and voted support for Rice's lies getting us into the war, wonder if he is also going to vote for support of torture? Bush says shut up and vote yes. Reid complains but says yes Sir.
