OK gov announces prescription plan allowing Canadian drugs
http://www.kotv.com/main/home/stories.asp?whichpage=1&id=76734

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Governor Brad Henry Wednesday announced a plan to reduce the cost of prescription drugs by allowing Oklahomans to buy cheaper drugs from Canada and other countries.

The proposal would allow Oklahoma pharmacies to buy US made prescription drugs from Canada and sell them in the state. It would create a Web site where citizens could order their drugs from Canada and other nations that buy the drugs from U-S pharmaceutical companies.

The plan also calls for creation of what Henry calls a ``SmartCard'' to allow people to take advantage of existing drug discount programs.

Henry says he's willing to challenge federal regulations if they get in the way of efforts to lower the cost of prescription drugs

3. Some drug companies will restrict supplies to Canadian pharmacies

"Pfizer Inc., the world's largest drug manufacturer, has cut off supplies to a number of Canadian mail-order pharmacies as part of the escalating battle between the industry and U.S. consumers hunting for bargains across the border.

Pfizer sent a letter Feb. 12 to Winnipeg-based Universal Drug Store and a half dozen other companies informing them that "effective immediately, your pharmacy is no longer approved to purchase Pfizer products from Pfizer Canada's authorized"

4. New Hampshire also promotes buying Canadian drugs.
My husband gets his prescriptions filled through CanadaDrugs.com, which was recommended on the NH web site, and has been very happy with the service, quality and prices. So far it's been less than half of what we'd pay at a local pharmacy. This company even sent him a Christmas card!

5. Good for him!
At least I know there is one Democrat that is actually fighting in this state. Hopefully this sets a precedent across the United States, because the people need some relief from the President allowing them to be sold down the river on medical care.

7. Merck just said that they would stop selling drugs to Canadian pharmacies
that sell drugs to Americans. It's just a matter of time before the other drug companies do the same. We're going to need a better solution than the band-aid fix that currently exists in Canada.
