Are we willing to comprise to win?
I noticed threads about different scenarios for the '08 ticket. People noting how Bayh could pick up several "red" states.

My question is should we comprise, just because someone could get those swing states?

1. If you don't stand for something
you'll fall for anything.

That's what happened to the Repukes.

3. I wouldn't mind a compromiser in the VP slot
But I definitely want a bold, aggressive, fighter as the presidential candidate in '08.

8. Politics is about compromise
Those who never compromise never get anywhere.
Your question can be rephrased:
Are we willing to lose rather than compromise?

The deal is, we have to put together a group of people large enough to win the election.
How can we do that?

11. When we compromise and the other side doesn't
WE LOSE!

Every time we give a little, they act like they are giving, but their original positions are so outrageous that all they have to do is give up their most outlandish demands to get EVERYTHING THEY WANT.

We can't afford to compromise anymore. At all.

The reason we lost the moderate middle was because (if, indeed, we really lost them) it was because we could not define our positions. And we could not define them because we compromised them so much.

We can never move far enough to the right to win the votes on the right. We need to take a stand and show why the left can do what the right cannot. That is what will draw the middle.

Simply raising the minimum wage by 50% will eliminate most of the problems with social security. Why is SS in trouble? Because the vast pool of low wage workers, who pay in the majority of SS, are drastically underpaid. Relative wages haven't been this low in 50 years. For the rest, look at the cap on SS. Relative investment income hasn't been this high since...ever? And who makes the most money off investment income? Those who are well beyond the $90,000 SS cap. They are enjoying the benefits of a blatant wealth redistribution scheme, from the worker to the investor.

No compromise.

10. No! Not now not ever.
Where do we compromise? Social Security cuts? War with Iran? Cuts for Veterans programs? Cuts for Education. More tax cuts for the rich? This country can't afford for us to compromise.
