Do politicians pay taxes on political donations?

I've been wondering about this for a long time.

its not income. It funds their campaigns. It cannot be used for living expenses.

2. No, the contributions are made to PACs...

and are to be used only for campaign expenses. The PAC's have to make periodic reports to the Federal Election commission of what they rec'd and what they spent it on.

Of course, their "friends" can provide free services to them like renovations to their cottages, landscaping their property - we have a lot of that sort of thing being exposed now in CT
