1. This is a good thing.
Lots and lots of media coverage. Let's hope the U.S. MSM will be embarassed by all the attention from overseas that they're not providing.

13. I'm afraid that alone won't do it! Overseas news media has long
covered important stories ignored by US, msm which leaves most US citizens--who limit their search to watching cable news--totally uninformed.

33. Then those lemmings need to turn off the tube
and get online! I'm still reeling from what a friend in my exercise class said this morning when I asked her what she thought about Cindy's vigil for her son. She told me she didn't know anything about it but that is because "the liberal medial doesn't tell us anything!" I asked her to please point me in the direction of the "liberal media" because I have not seen any "liberal media" for years! I explained to her about Cindy and she said "I think that is sad she lost her son but it's not like with my husband who was drafted!" What? The fact that the war is based on lies and bushit doesn't matter at all????????? I wisely then shut up. I know when someone is too drunk on Koolaid. I just can't understand how someone can go through life believing this crap!

37. Isn't it amazing that so many seem to be so unconscious!
As a little girl, when I started learning about the holocaust I could never understand how the Nazis could get where they did given that it seemed certain that people would object and put barriers in their way at some point! I also used to pray that, if it ever happened here, I would have the courage to oppose them. Well, I have my answer as to how it happens, and I guess the rest is now up to me...

45. We can never let it go that far
ever again! The corporations need to be reined in! Utilities need to be regulated once again and the checks and balances in our government need to be put back in place!

I'm so damned sick of these repubs who think all that matters is if they can win the game, honestly or not, and not playing by the rules. The GOP needs to be reminded that there ARE RULES TO THE GAME!

6. So are the Republicans who think...
... they are Presidential material:

"I think the president ought to meet with this mother," said Sen. George Allen, a Virginia Republican. "What I would say to her is her son will always be remembered as a great hero and a patriot, advanced freedom in Iraq and the Middle East, has made this country more secure."

This from CNN's story earlier today. Too bad this George is no smarter than the one that's in the White House now. I don't that sort of BS will fly with Cindy Sheehan.

10. Gone over the edge
They cannot stand it, the good Republicans and a too large portion of the Democrats. No one in Congress can stand it, not yet. Passion, pain, grief, no not in America. Keep your mouth shut, don't cry in public, don't show outrage, don't do "peace" things in the road. Chin up, pull your boots straps up, square your shoulders, pull yourself together, put on a good face, never let them see you sweat, be strong, soldier on, but for god's sake don't embarrass us with your grief, your pain, your anger, we don't do that in Amerika.

Millions of women have sent their sons and daughters off to war, millions have returned in body bags, hold your head high and be proud your son died with what honor? Whose honor, he is still dead, his life is still cut short, my baby, our babies are still thrown out like so much fodder. They say that's what our sons want to do, I say BS, fighting is what you want them to do. Our sons do not want to die.

Every mother across the world who has lost a child to someone's insane and insatiable greed for money and power should be standing in that road with Cindy Sheehan, writing letters, making calls. Men act as if they are afraid of us, well let's do something to make them afraid. Let's join every woman's group that is fighting this crazy administration, let's make fools of ourselves, let's show these people what passion is and what it can do. That lily livered bunch who have taken over our country and too afraid to face a woman who is asking "why, why did you lie to us and our children and send them to their deaths, why? For what reason? Where is the honor in dying for your friends to make more money." Oh yes, let's show them passion, grief, and rage.

36. The Elderly Know Our Guards Should Be Home, Not Abroad!
Clearly the Afghanistan, strike that -- the Iraqi war "was not" a major crisis, nor a national emergency!

Can anyone say "BIN FORGOTTEN!"

Elderly (today) said to me as we passed a Guard Unit site, "Those poor Guards over there (Iraq), they have no business over there -- they should be home guarding us!" I half-jokingly said something like, "Yeah, from them (**)," and she responded in total agreement.

12. If he had agreed to meet her right away
as honor suggests he should do, it might have meant much less. He'd have been uncomfortable and said fake things and probably not hear or learn, though perhaps her passion could get through.

But it does get through to the rest of us. This wait of hers, her insistence on speaking truth to power, while "power" hides out on his fake ranch, is turning so many eyes that way.

Because she is REAL, Casey was real. Her son is dead. She is sick of bullshit. And while he could ignore all that, the press is there and the world will not ignore her.

She's got them in a pickle there. You don't get to smear a bereaved mother. The longer he waits to see her the more attention this will get.

I love that she tells the world the truth about their last meeting. He did not know her name or Casey's name or the relationship. He would not hear about Casey or look at his pictures. There is the president, like being there is enough hard work. Sure he sent them off to die, but learning their name and showing respect? Heck, they should be honored he is taking the time and being jolly.

She wants to know what Casey died for. Maybe they are right and he died to keep the country safe. And it is her actions that is doing it, the more that see the truth, the safer this country is.

Because of her transmuting grief into action she brings meaning to Casey's death and life.

16. They are trying to smear her
They're doing it from the bottom up as they often do. The foot soldiers are trotting out their talking points, but it's not resonating. How many of us are parents? The feelings that come with being one are so intense that you don't really have to experience that loss to understand how devastating it would be. It's the stuff of every parent's nightmares and worst fears. Every parent is capable of understanding what Cindy Sheehan is doing, whether they agree, or would do it themselves. Smearing's just not going to work this time.

for all the bluster about standing strong, firm resolve, and how invading Iraq is noble -- he hides from ONE REGULAR AMERICAN MOM...

for all the blather and insults thrown at those of us who question the Iraq invasion -- he ducks talking to ONE REGULAR AMERICAN MOM...

If the pResident represent America - how does this image reflect on us all when the "most powerful man in the world" is chicken yellow and shaking in his boots at the sight of ONE REGULAR AMERICAN MOM asking a simple question - Why did my son die?

That big "W" he likes to flash around -- it now stands for WHIMP!

Take a good look, George. That is your Nemesis. Your Waterloo has just arrived, in the guise of a woman.

There is nothing you can do about her. She is above your scheming. The more you try to take her down, the more she will grow in stature and threat to your administration.

She will be able to do what I could not accomplish. I have 3 teenage boys. They are still alive. Her son is not.

Cindy Sheehan stands for all of us.

because she stands for all of us."

I wish I was standing with her physically, in Crawford, as well.

But I will light a candle again tonight, and wear her button everywhere I go and talk to people about what is happening.

The button I made this morning says "I Stand With Cindy" and you would not believe how many people ask what it means, and why I am wearing it. Try it - even if it is just the words on a disc of paper pinned to your shirt. Let's get the word out in every city, in every workplace, on every elevator and in every grocery store line.

50. That's true
I have to agree, completely, and for all the man-hating I think I participate in, those wonderful examples of humanity must be recognized.

I told someone the other day, it's not that all men are monsters. Far from it. It's that the vast majority of the monsters are men. Doesn't matter if it's only one out of ten, or one out of one hundred; if it's almost exclusively men committing acts of violence...men are almost exclusively the monsters. Whether the decent one's like it or not, it's a fact, just a fact. Their gender is...problamatic...for ours.

For women, it just "happens". Even in the most civilized of societies, the safest neighborhoods; if a woman is hurt or killed, nine times out of ten it's by a man, and likely, the man to whom she's closest. Husband, boyfriend, father, stepfather, and on and on.

Not healthy or realistic to hate men. But it IS realistic to see the real dangers, real events, and those that commit the acts. Willful human damage. For revenge. For passion. For entertainment.

And sadly, and I can personally attest, for pedophiles, it's a lifetimes worth of victims, from the most ordinary, sometimes grandfatherly (complete with liver spots on hands...) of figures. Men.

Sorry guys, but it is my feeling that the vast majority of men simply cannot face up to what their gender is responsible for, and since it is not "their fault" or their issue, they refuse to see what happens to women because of it. It's an issue of convenience. It is far more convenient to not see the problem in the first place. To deny there is a problem. While their wives walk to their cars with keys in hand, spray in purse, eyes looking all around. And that's if they've got a smart wife. Or daughter. And THAT is just one small issue we face.

Just too sad, another life wrinkle, so easily ironed out, but has to be SEEN to be ironed, or it's just a wrinkle, and not theirs. They won't feel it.

there. What is the exit strategy?? To be arrested and have her voice lost??? I'm afraid that in the long run, it could work against here. She'll be dropped from the media immediately. And the "other side" will whip up negative spin about all this and the sympathy will turn from Cindy to the "beleaguered" POTUS.

Really. Did they think out where/how they want it to end? WHEN DOES CINDY DECLARE VICTORY??? POINT THE FINGER AT BUSH'S COWARDICE/DISHONESTY etc., say we've done all we can, see what a f*ck GWB is.....now you know!!! We will continue this fight.....
