Base Closing Committee
Does anyone think that the ruling of the base closing committee was political. The submarine base in Joe Liberman's state will stay open, but bases in Maine and New Hampshire will close. Both Maine and New Hampshire have senators that though they are Republicans they do not always follow Bush. This could be an attempt to get them out for people closer to Bush. So what do others think?

3. The bigger base in Maine is remaining open
The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard was saved. THis will be a good thing for Olympia Snowe in her re-election next year. It's also a good thing for Maine's economy.

The jury's still out on one of our facilities. Hopefully we'll know tomorrow.

4. How does that explain Georgia's three base closures?
The most of any one state. Severely red (on paper .. er, actually, on electronic ballots). That is a strange one. Know what I mean?

3 bases and a school in Athens. I'll find the link to the article. The school is some Navy training for loading ships I think.

I posted a comment earlier today that I was surprised because all the Rwers here thought Chambliss and Isackson would save all these bases. You sure can't say either of those 2 ever "don't follow the Pub vote"!
