If Republicans are so popular...?
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 10:07 PM by Ready4Change
Why don't Republican candidates say they are Republican on their websites? Democrats nearly always say what party they belong to. What are Republicans, ashamed of their party or something?

I say this after having looked at Tim Kaines website. (Running for Governor of Richmand, VA.) It mentions that his wife is the daughter of a Republican, but nothing about HIM. (I did a word search for "republican" on several of his pages. I didn't search the whole thing.)

So, what's the deal?

{On Edit}

I'm an official idiot on this post. Kaine is a Democrat. Sorry about my assumption.

I'm still frustrated at any candidate, running for an office, who doesn't clearly state his party. Up till now I'd only been aware of Republicans doing this. Apparently it's more common that that.

So, on correction, why does ANY candidate do this?

4. Seriously?
 One idiot point for me!

Wouldn't guess he's a Democrat from the website. Several of his viewpoints don't strike me as Democrat, either. I've noticed several Republicans who don't sate their affiliation on thier sites, and took it as a Republican thing.

Still, why doesn't Kaine fess up for his party? Honestly? Why doesn't ANY candidate say so, right up front? If you can't be open about your party affiliation, whatever it is, what WILL you be open about?

5. Another correction.
Guess I jumped way off the handle on this one.

His wife is the daughter of a former Republican governor. I got that wrong above, and will correct it if there's still time.

6. Ok, I don't care for his stance about teaching abstinence-focused stuff.
"I will reduce abortion in Virginia by enforcing current Virginia restrictions, passing an enforceable ban on partial-birth abortion, ensuring women's access to health care (including legal contraception), and promoting abstinence-focused education and adoption.

We should reduce abortion in this manner, rather than by criminalizing women and doctors."

He is Catholic, believes in abstinence only education...which ain't working at all...so I wonder what he means by ensuring women's access to health care including "legal" contraception? We would need to define "legal", such as in the morning after pill is not really "legal" here unless your doctor says it is....in fact I am not sure it is termed legal.

The state of VA was promised 5 million by Terry McAuliffe in January. I have wondered...is it because it is a Southern state?

Every pro-life person who is elected hurts women in every state, whether it be governor or senator or whatever.

7. Maybe they want you to listen to what they say
instead of making a snap decision based on -D or -R ?

8. That's a possibility.
Oddly, I looked at his site and thought he was a -R.

Maybe that's what sells in Richmond, VA?
