WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the Republican National Committee:

"It's hardly surprising that the Alliance for Justice would join PFAW and NARAL in their obligatory opposition to Judge Roberts. Nan Aaron first attacked Judge Roberts a mere 27 minutes after he was nominated and today's Alliance for Justice announcement is the continuation of a false smear campaign borne of a political agenda in lock step with the Michael Moore wing of the Democrat party. As the Senate Judiciary Committee prepares for the confirmation hearings next week, one can only hope that Democrats will choose to approach the hearings in a dignified fashion and reject the over-hyped attacks by the far left." -Tracey Schmitt, RNC Press Secretary

Alliance For Justice Wasted No Time In Attacking Judge Roberts:

The Alliance For Justice Released A Mass Email At 9:27 PM, 27 Minutes After The President Announced John Roberts As The Supreme Court Nominee. (Alliance For Justice Email, "Breaking News: Bush Nominates Judge John Roberts To Supreme Court," 7/19/05)

-- "During His Time At The Justice Department, Roberts Also Helped Craft Legal Policies That Sought To Weaken School Desegregation Efforts, The Reproductive Rights Of Women, Environmental Protections, Church-State Separation, And The Voting Rights Of African Americans." (Alliance For Justice Email, "Breaking News: Bush Nominates Judge John Roberts To Supreme Court," 7/19/05)

Alliance For Justice Is Out Of The Mainstream:

(James Kuhnhenn, "Conflict Brews Over Judicial Nominees," The Miami Herald, 3/27/05; Carl Hulse and David D. Kirkpatrick, "Casting Angry Eye On Courts, Conservatives Prime For Bench-Clearing Brawl In Congress," The New York Times, 3/23/05)

AFJ President Nan Aron Wants Courts To "Create New Rights." "(R)epublicans now control the House, the Senate and the White House... there is obviously no way we're going to get any new rights created by the Congress. So now we have to look to the courts to create new rights that we won't be able to get from the legislature." (NPR's "Fresh Air," 2/16/05)

MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "This Women On The Left, Nan Aron Of This Abortion Rights Group Said Any Candidate For The Supreme Court Who Doesn't State Publicly Their Position On Abortion Rights They Are An Extraordinarily Bad Pick And Should Be Rejected Under This New Agreement. Well That Is, Of Course, An Absurd Assessment." (MSNBC's "Right Now," 5/24/05)

Billionaire Financier And The "Daddy Warbucks" Of Drug Legalization George Soros' Open Society Institute Contributed $535,000 To Alliance For Justice Since 1999. (Open Society Institute Website, www.soros.org, Accessed 4/5/05; Capital Research Center Website, www.capitalresearch.org, Accessed 4/5/05; Joseph A. Califano Jr., Op-Ed, "Devious Efforts To Legalize Drugs," The Washington Post, 12/4/96)

"On The Left, Not Long After Bush Was Elected, People For The American Way Banded Together With Other Prominent Progressive And Liberal Groups -- Including The Alliance For Justice, The Leadership Conference On Civil Rights, And The Abortion Rights Group NARAL -- To Form The Coalition For A Fair And Independent Judiciary." (Maeve Reston, "Lobbyists Can't Wait To Push Justice Favorites," Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 6/27/05)

MoveOn Email: "(H)undreds Of MoveOn Members Joined Senator Byrd And Seven Other Leading Senators To Rally For Fair Judges In Washington DC. ... Senator Byrd Was Joined By ... Our Friends From ... The Alliance For Justice." (MoveOn.Org Email, "Save The Courts With A New TV Ad," 3/17/05)

MoveOn.Org Has Attacked Judge Roberts And Had Ads On Website Comparing President To Hitler:

-- "An Abortion Rights Group Is Withdrawing A Heavily Criticized Television Ad That Linked John Roberts To Violent Anti-Abortion Activists, Saying Its Attempt To Illuminate The Supreme Court Nominee's Record Has Been 'Misconstrued.'" (Jesse J. Holland, "Abortion Rights Group Withdraws Roberts Ad," The Associated Press, 8/12/05)

PFAW Is A "Liberal" Out Of The Mainstream Organization:

The Associated Press, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, And The Washington Post, All Describe People For The American Way (PFAW) As "Liberal." (Hilary Roxe, "Critics Say Frist Connecting With Religious Groups For Political Ends," The Associated Press, 4/23/05; David D. Kirkpatrick and Sheryl Gay Stolberg, "Frist Is Drawing Criticism From Some Church Leaders," The New York Times, 4/22/05; Charlie Savage, "Ad Wars Mount As Republicans Ready Ban On Senate Filibusters," The Boston Globe, 4/21/05; Michael A. Founder Of PFAW Norman Lear: School Prayer Is A "Joke." "I grew up with prayer in schools. It was a joke. We also pledged allegiance to the flag.... But that's not America. So prayer in school was a joke." (Thomas M. Landy, "What's Missing From This Picture?" Commonweal, 10/9/92)

3. You have to turn completely around 3 times to look at neocons
And that's starting from Hitler.

None of these things are the far left. They're mainstream.
