Alan Simpson (R-WY) praises Bush: "You can stuff it if you don't like it"
'Hardball with Chris Matthews' for Nov. 30th

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10281920/

NOTE: In accordance with DU's rule about posting no more than four paragraphs of copyrighted material, I've snipped four of the most outrageous comments from Tweety's exchange with Alan Simpson (Former Republican Senator from Wyoming) on Wednesday's "Hardball." Simpson appeared to be very, very impressed with Bush's "performance" this week. The first comment is in response to Matthews' question about why Bush never gives these speeches to "regular people," only pre-selected military audiences.

SIMPSON: Because this is about war and the regular civilians don‘t understand war. They haven‘t got it in their being that we are at war. This is a war, and they don‘t—so he went to the war room and spoke to guys who are going to go to war.

---SNIP---

SIMPSON: I think so. But I don‘t think it was because his father stopped and Colin Powell stopped that he felt he had to go start it again. I don‘t think that. I really believe he thought that there were weapons of mass destruction there. He really thought he was going to put this butcher out of business and he really thought he could do it and I think he thought he could do it with that kind of a force and he needed more.

---SNIP---

SIMPSON: We‘re at a point right now where the mistakes mean nothing going to pull it right now where the mistakes mean nothing in the past. He said today, which was great, we made mistakes. We‘re revising our strategy, revising our military activities. We‘re revising how to take care of hour ourselves better, armament, ordinance. That‘s all done. Now, and whether they like it or not, and you‘ve got to stick your face—and that‘s what he was doing. He‘s sticking his face right in the face of the American people, saying you may not like this. We‘re here, and by God, we‘re going to stay the course, and we‘re going to be here as long as I‘m your commander in chief and, in essence, you can stuff it if you don‘t like it.

---SNIP---

SIMPSON: Well, he has to be very careful with Murtha and he did revise and extend his remark, because John Murtha, who was here when I was, is a patriot and a veteran. But Bush today is through with fun and games. It may work and it will look to the pundits like fun and games and that he stuck it in their ear, but I don‘t think he started out to do that. And he‘ll just say, this is it. Cast your vote.

1. You might recall that when Simpson went to Baghdad
just before Desert Storm, he not only didn't have an unkind thing to say about Saddam, he actually appeared with "that butcher" and joked that he wished he could censor the press here at home the way Saddam did over there.

6. Simpson on TV defending the Monkey is a GOOD THING
They only drag that old sod out when they are in DEEP doo-doo.

He has that "straight talk" quality that appeals to people who do not pay attention. Make no mistake, his efforts did not originate from his own simple desire to get his personal views across. He got a phone call, and was tasked.

Sorry old man, go home, give it up. Nothing can right this foundering ship of state, save impeachment! They'll have to sink the vessel in order to save it!

9. Hmmmmm...is Bush telling us to screw ourselves, through Simpson?
I doubt Simpson would paraphrase the pResident like that, unless he had a big green light from Junior.

This phrase, "as I‘m your commander in chief and, in essence, you can stuff it if you don‘t like it" was quite telling.

Junior detests average Americans. He is the king and we are the vermin. I imagine he resents explaining his policy. He's even said that to Woodward--that because he's pResident, he doesn't have to explain.

Who knows for sure, but I think Simpson was revealing dictation from Junior--to us.

Bottom line--these asses are going to do exactly what they want to do. They really don't care if their polls are in the toilet. They are bored and irritated with the lower 99 percent of the population. They are elitist scum bags.

I think this interview is telling. I think Simpson is laying out how the pResident really feels. He can't say "stuff it" to everyone, but he can get his willing minions to do it. Bush does this every day, through Limbaugh. Now, he's using high-profile politicians.

10. The IRAQI people are not mentioned once here. Focus is on perceptions.
This is aristocratic small talk from one of their elitist capitalists.
Simpson, like * has no compassion in his top tier priorities, and it takes a scripted, concerted effort for him, or *, to espose concern for the Iraq people.

11. Once again, not caring if nation backs war, going for passive acceptance.
From the very beginning, all the adminstration wanted was passive acceptance of the war. It knew there wasn't ever going to be a desire for it. It knew there wasn't going to be a hue and cry for Saddam.

So it argued the war was going to be cost free to the majority, quick, easy, go shopping.

It also argued that nobody could stop it anyway, so you might as well shut up. Bush was clear...it was his decision. The congressional resolution was NICE as a symbol of national resolve, but unnecessary. So why protest? All you do is make what is going to happen in any event more difficult. Don't struggle. Just hope it works out.

So yesterday, I'm listening to NPR commentators saying that the Ameican people don't understand the war and don't trust the adminstration, because for the last two years the admin hasn't been bringing us on board.

And we see why...Simpson confirms it. The admin is, and always has been, convinced that the more we know, the less we like it. Simpson tells us right now we won't get it: He isn't trying to convince anyone of anything besides the fact our opinion isn't going to count anyway.

Better to tell us to NOT get involved, NOT sacrifice, heck, give us a tax cut, then get the people involved.

Of course, no nation wins a huge effort over a number of years with mere passive acceptance. War requires a national mobilization. Six Billion bucks a month and 160,000 troops in country is not something that can be carried on under the radar. It made sense when the admin was thinking we would be greeted with hearts and flowers.

....Simpsom, you reek with the stench of fetid Republicanism. You have always been a first-class wanker....

....it's enabling scum like you that keeps the jack-boot of corporate America on the necks of working Americans....so long as money is being pi$$ed down a rat-hole like Iraq and not being spent on social programs, you and your kind are having a Merry Christmas....

....I might not understand a lot of things, but I understand you....
