Just to be clear.
On FTN, the host asked Kerry about a rumor going around Washington that Joe might replace Rummy. He was asked if he would support such a thing. Well, Joe is a fellow Dem, and campaigned for Kerry in 2004, and would suck far less than Rummy does in the job, so Kerry said sure. But he followed that comment by saying, and this is important, that such talk was just Washington insider chat, and the REAL issue was that 80% of Iraqis don't want us in Iraq
So the Joementum question was a distraction from the real issues of getting out of Iraq. And folks are buying the distraction.
Kerry's email today pushes for Bush to replace Rummy. Those of us who get regular emails could tell you that Kerry has been pushing for Rummy to either resign or get fired for almost a year.
The mere fact that he came out with ANOTHER email calling for Bush to ditch Rummy today does NOT mean that he's pushing for Lieberman to get the job. It means that he thinks Rummy is an idiot who is fucking up the army.
His comments re: Lieberman just meant that he was being loyal to a fellow Dem, but it is still important to note that Kerry moved quickly past the distraction to talk about the war and how we are not wanted there. Elsewhere in the interview, he also said that our soldiers should NOT be scaring women and children in the dead of night, something Rush tried to turn into a slam against the military, saying "See, Democrats hate our soldiers." Hell, how could Kerry do that. He WAS a soldier. Rush never was.
But I digress.
Main point: please don't fall for the distractions. Try to give a cyber cookie or two to someone -- even if they normally annoy the shit out of you, and God forbid they should be nominated in 2008 -- when they say things like (paraphrasing) "80% of the Iraqi people don't want us in Iraq" and "our soldiers should not be scaring women and children in the dead of night."
As a recent jailbird would say "It's a good thing."
