Washington, DC – The Democratic National Committee today unveiled its new Podcast, the latest example of Democratic efforts to reach Americans across the country using the newest technology. The DNC’s Podcast, a brief audio broadcast that listeners can download for play on portable music devices or on computers, will give listeners a chance to regularly hear updates from party leaders, newsmakers, strategists, policy makers, and the grassroots of the Democratic Party.
The Inaugural DNC Podcast features an interview with DNC Chairman Howard Dean in which he discusses the DNC’s fall meeting in Phoenix, the Democratic Party’s strategy and agenda for 2006, Democratic minority outreach efforts, and the DNC’s plans to hold its next meeting in New Orleans.
In addition, the DNC Podcast features an interview with DNC Blogger Tim Tagaris, who discusses the decision by Lamar Advertising to reject the DNC’s purchase of two billboards in Portsmouth, Ohio. The billboards were purchased as part of the DNC’s effort to hold Ohio Republican Congresswoman Jean Schmidt accountable for attacking Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha, a decorated military veteran, during a Congressional debate on the Iraq war.
“The DNC Podcast is a new, exciting way to reach out to voters and activists across the country,” said Dean. “I am pleased to be a part of this first Podcast, and excited about the potential this technology presents to help Democrats communicate our values to voters more quickly, more effectively, and more directly than ever.”
