We'll finally get out. The inevitable Civil War will happen. Saddam gets out of jail and puts the band (or whats left of it) together again. He's standing on his balcony smoking a Cuban and blasting off his shotgun at the adoring crowd just like that b-roll film footage CNN shows all the time.

he could probably start his own religion.

3. Possibly.
He may not win the trial...but, at this point, the U.S./Iraq coalition can't win either. And it's just possible that he'll be sentenced to prison by the court, then released when the situation in Iraq gets even more volatile.

4. I've been thinking that his temper tantrums in court are his way of
drumming up support, or, if not support, anger at Americans and someone decides to spring him. Wouldn't that make us look great!

5. Saddam won't be back in power.
If he's not found guilty, and not killed in his way out of Iraq he'll live in exile somewhere else. If they continue with the trail in Iraq I don't see them going through all of this and not finding him guilty. Personally I think it would be safer for all invovled in the trail if it was moved to an International court.

7. I, for one would not be surprised...
Besides, for all that our govt. CLAIMS that he has done, now that we know that our govt plants stories, etc, then we don't really know WHAT the truth is about Saddam.

In my book, Cheney is a far worse person than Saddam.

8. He has a history of standing up to the U.S. and that gives him...
"street cred" as the kids say. They had better execute him soon or he'll be haunting the next administration. Think about it, how many bombs did we drop ON HIS FUCKING HOUSE trying to get him and he is still alive. This guy is amazing.

How did Rummy forget why he shook his hand? Was this just an excuse to end up nuking Iran?

Mussolini or Czar Nicholas.

Whichever way things go, Saddam ends up dead.

23. No, "Tookie" is the good guy remember?
He'll come back to avenge his unjust "murder" and write some pop-up books for the Sunnis and Shiites and they can learn how to get along. Then afterward he'll solve the Israel/Palestine conflict with an essay or two and some limericks. Eventually "Tookie" the undead specter of righteousness will be granted the powers of Emperor of the World and will solve world hunger, global warming and oil dependence using the brilliance of marionette theater. He will invent interstellar travel and bring order to the galaxy. In time he will be revealed to be a minor deity and all Earthling's souls will ascend to Tookie's fingerpainting heaven. We must worship at Tookie's altar.

Iran will be running Iraq two years from now. Hey, they're practically doing it now. Did you know that if a woman wanted to vote she had to wear the veil?

18. I don't think it will be Saddam, but another person to rule by fear
is very likely.

Am I the only one who thinks that maybe Saddam governed that way for a reason. With all the different factions I suspect we will have replaced one dictator with another.......and is Iraq governable?

executing large numbers of people.

Paybacks a bitch, and the Shiite's are out to avenge there people...

reasons, is to see Saddam executed.I think it's the motivating force behind Junior; oil/war profits for Cheney; PNAC crap for Rummy.
But Saddam (allegedly) tried to kill Poppy..he must be punished! Then, maybe Shrub will withdraw.
I also believe it possible that he pleasures himself nightly to the grotesque footage of the bodies of Uday and Qusay. Really.
