Why aren't they trying Saddam...
...on the gassing of the Kurds?
Or would a trial like that hit "too close to home"...if you know what I mean.

1. Why aren't they trying him for 9/11 if they're so sure he did it?

2. Not only "too close to home"...
seeing as how the "gas" was manufactured in the good old U.S.A....

but, a lot of evidence suggests that Iran, and not Saddam, gassed the Kurds.

3. They do not want to call Saint Ronnie or Poppie Bush as co-conspirators
or Rummie or Cheney or Colon Powell

4. Convict him of something that didn't involve the U.S. and kill him quickly
But you knew that, didn't you? Let's not bring up any of the many things that involved our evil skullduggery and off him quickly. We can't let him just rot in an oubliette in Florida with Noriega, he has to be eliminated.

Yep, we're the good guys.

5. Because
Iraq used to be a "client state" of the US before the Soviet Union broke up. The US put Saddam into power, kept him in power and sold him weapons right up until the Gulf War. The US used Iraq as a proxy in the Iraq/Iran war. He might have gotten the gas from the US, as he did other weapons he used. That would be embarrassing if it came out.

Also, the US is using White Phosphorus on Iraqi civilians and Depleted Uranium to make munitions which shatter into a radioactive dust on impact. It is still hot enough that it causes radiation damage to humans and the environment and it has a half life of 4.5 billion years.

I would imagine that the gassing of the Kurds might run too close to comfort to the use of some of the weapons by the Pentagon in the war in Iraq.
