I've Been Thinking - Dean Crazy Like a Fox With Statement?
Okay, I've posted that while I agree with the concept of what Howard Dean said yesterday, I didn't agree with the way he said it and today the right has been hitting pretty hard. But then I've been thinking about it and when someone posted that Bush said a year ago that the war on terrorism probably can't be won, it got me thinking maybe Dean is up to something here.

What if he started this debate on purpose and part of his strategy is so he can also point out that Bush himself said this "war on terror" probably can't be won. Then when Bush says he never meant the war in Iraq can't be won, then Dean is going to come back and point out that for the past four years Bush has certainly been linking Iraq and the war on terror and then ask him just what does he mean.

I don't know. I almost think Dean knew he would have been jumped on for his comments. Or at least hope so.

1. Dean always knows what his comments will mean.
He knows he causes the Pubs ulcers, and I think you can see it on his face every time he makes a controversial comment that he's enjoying every minute!

Somebody has to say the truth, and he knows he the only one who can do it without personal election consequences.

I admire him for saying the things he does.

Think aobut it. Most of his statements prove to be true!

4. You are right. He knows exactly what he is saying.
He knew what he would say in San Antonio, but the station didn't. They are loving the attention, and the interview is being sent around the world they said.

Here is the video, audio, and article from the station. Very good and very interesting. The producer at the end said it had given many a lot to think about.

7. Thank you so much for posting that link!
I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to post it on it's own thread. I know I've been looking for a link to Deans whole interview that day and I'm sure lots of other DUers are too!

I listened to the whole thing, and as usual, the media did cherry pick what it wanted to publicize.

I agree with everything Dean said and it also sounds like the people in San Antonio liked what they heard too!

9. There's a guy running for Congress in my state who says Dean is his hero
He said that Dean knew what he was doing when he'd make a dramatic statement, because it gets you free publicity, and it gets you on CNN, where you can then talk about what you REALLY want to talk about.

The guy's name is Justin Sowa, and I hope he beats the pants off of Congressman Paul Ryan.

3. W has said our fight is not with the Iraqis, its with the terrorists
But in 2004 he said we can't win the war on terrorism. But now he says we can win the war in Iraq? W is totally disconnected with reality.

Dr. Dean is right on and knows which fights to pick.

God I hope so.

If this is politic jujitsu then maybe the DNC has finally figured out how to play the press. If Dean is the bad guy and can shape the debate for us then we all need to bend over and kill Dean's ass because he's the best weapon at our disposable.

The DNC needs to figure out what the press BITES and and use that as a tatical weapon against the CONTEMPTABLE Right-wing.

6. At a certain point
Having the right wing yell at us becomes a good thing.

Where are thier approval ratings?

And why is that Democrats are the only ones that have to worry about appearing shrill?

The press not only distorts the facts they are distorting public oppinion. We really do live in fake times. At a certain point the media just might be a lost cause and we'll have to do everythign person to person in true Underground style.

12. Of Course, He's Playing Them MASTERFULLY!
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 11:01 AM by Beetwasher
The debate is on. Now everyone is asking "Can we win the war?", and we all know the answer to that question. He's knocked the WH and Repubs back on their heels and put them on the defensive and got them going batshit fucking CRAZY. The NY Post came out and called him a traitor! They're going bannanas and it's just what he wanted. It makes them look like rabid, insane fools to the 60+% of people who now no longer support the war.

Would there be polls out now asking people if they think we can win in Iraq if Dean handn't said anything or said it differently? No. They would NEVER ask that question on their own. Dean forced their hand. He masterfully reframed the debate.
