Connecticut DFA Poll: Is action needed?
Just got this email today.

Last week, President Bush released his plan for victory in Iraq and he reiterated it today. Unfortunately, it is more of a PR stunt than an actual plan. But that hasn't stopped Joe Lieberman from writing a full-page editorial in the Wall Street Journal in support of the president's "strategy for victory."

Yesterday, Senator Lieberman called for Democrats to support President Bush by stating, "It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge he'll be commander in chief for three more years. We undermine the president's credibility at our nation's peril."1

There is a new level of debate happening in Congress in ways we have not seen before. Some who were once the strongest supporters of the president's policies are now saying it is time for a new direction. Yet Senator Lieberman continues to support President Bush's "stay the course" strategy that has led to over 2,100 American deaths with no foreseeable end in sight.

So, our question for you is: would you support Democracy for America in taking a stand on Sen. Lieberman's recent comments?

  • No, I think DFA should focus on other issues.
  • Yes, I oppose Senator Lieberman's comments and I think DFA should take action.
  • I support Senator Lieberman's comments.

Your input is what drives DFA, so please let us know where you stand today.

    Thank you for everything.

    5. Believe it or not, I'm angrier at Lieberman than Bush.
Bush we expect to continually pursue incompetent strategies that will further ruin our nation. I'm angry about it, but focused.

Lieberman gets me, personally, to the point of nearly blind rage. The fact that he supports Bush is one thing, but he is a Democrat and thus undermines our party when he supports Bush on something as serious as the Iraq war. Lieberman knows nothing of the horrors war just like the rest of the Bush regime. The fact that he wants to have the Democrats form a "War Cabinet" with Bush's administration is nothing short of treason to the Democratic Party and to the principles of this country. This makes as much sense as the Democrats during the Great Depression saying, "Oh we're really in a mess. Let's no criticize and propose solutions, but let's rather join with Hoover and embrace his policies so this doesn't become a partisan issue.". Lieberman can rot in hell. He should be expelled from the party. We can get much better than him from far less liberal states than Connecticut.

    6. I'll even take Ben Nelson over Holy Joe--Holy Joe probably votes
with the Dems more than Ben, but that's largely because Ben is froma very red state--he has to cover himself. And I can't recall him ever criticzing the Dems--he simply says he doesn't agree.

Holy Joe, on the other hand, is Zell miller Part II--the Dems really need to get him out of the party if they ever want to become the majority party again.

    7. I don't recall Nelson saying to the Dems, "Shut up! He's our president!"
Lieberman said something that was very akin to something we would hear in a true autocracy. The president has become so powerful in this country that the fears I have always had about the president becoming a dictator seem to be becoming true. If we have people from the opposing party saying that we can't criticize the president's policies simply because they are the president's policies, then this is a dictatorship since anything the president does is infallible.

    8. And he's so stupid, too, Bush and his cronies do not reward Dems
for their loyalty--they'll shaft him the first chance they get. Politics really si I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine--well, Holy Joe, you ain't gonna get yours scratched any time soon.
