Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) to Howard Dean: "Shut up"
WASHINGTON - North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy is accusing Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean of overstepping his bounds, saying the former presidential candidate should not give up on the war in Iraq.

On Monday, Dean likened the war in Iraq to Vietnam and said, "The idea that the United States is going to win the war in Iraq is just plain wrong."

"My words to Howard Dean are simple - shut up," Pomeroy told WDAY Radio in North Dakota on Thursday.

Pomeroy later told The Associated Press that he is tired "of the overblown rhetoric on both sides."

"We have young men and women with their lives on the line," he added. "The debate has fallen far short of what they deserve."

1. Me to Earl
Take your own advice!

Lives wouldn't be on the line if you'd done your job properly in the first place.

Bring them home!

3. My advice to Earl Pomeroy
You were sent to represent the people. It's time to get your head out of the corporate ass long enough to hear what a majority of us are saying.

Dean is right. You are wrong.

Since you represent the problem, not the solution, perhaps it's time for you to shut up.

4. Pomeroy seems to be out of touch, doesn't he?
Evidently, he never reads the widely held views on DU...

Perhaps he's in the wrong party?

12. Seriously, where the fuck does our country get these guys?
I can't believe the people on both sides of the aisle who get elected nowadays. There are so many obscure fools out there it's unbelievable.

5. Shut up Earl!!!
We have men and women dying for a lie and it is immoral not to dicuss this fiasco.

When it becomes obvious that this is just like Vietnam they won't want to talk about it in order to "heal the wounds".

Bastards.

Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 08:33 PM by Wetzelbill
that guy would sit around watching the Titanic sink before he decided to get the nuts to do something about it.

Troops have bigger problems than to listen to what some politician says. They aren't sitting around waiting to hear what Howard Dean has to say, it doesn't hurt their feelings. What matters is that they are getting shot at, maimed and killed. What matters is that lawmakers need to find a way to either win, which Howard Dean is right it's not going to happen, or get them home as soon as possible without making the situation worse than it already is.

Should not give up on the war in Iraq? It shouldn't have been started in the first place. It was doomed from the second Commander CuckooBananas gave the order to go in.

and Howard Dean was right. By the way, George Bush said the same thing that Dean said; so did you tell
Bush to shut up? What in the world is wrong with you half-baked Democrats; don't you realize you'll never get the republican vote no matter how much you suck up to them? :puke: :argh:

18. Earl is wrong but I see where he comes from
He does come from a heavily Repubican voting state (at least on the state level and for President). He knows he will be out next year if he pushes it too much.

19. He is in effect saying "shut up" to Murtha and Pelosi, too.
Pomeroy should be booted off the Ways & Means Committee, because he no longer represents mainstream Democratic values.

I just searched on an online phonebook, for somebody named "Jones" in ND. Then I used the zip code to get in and e-mail him. :)
