Drudge: GOP to launch "white flag" approach on Dems
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash2.htm

These bastards take every single word the Democrats say, and twist it and turn it - and then Bush gets up and says the Dems are being divisive or obstructionists.

OBSTRUCT EVERY SINGLE THING THESE BASTARDS DO, DEMS!!!!!!!

These sons of bitches just voted for more tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, claiming this is why our economy is "booming," while cutting the legs off programs for food and housing for the poor, and college loans for the middle and lower classes.

More from the Drudge article:

"The ad is in response to the controversial comments Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean and 2004 Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry made earlier in the week.

A Democratic strategist who had the web ad described to her said, “This is way over the top but we have no one to blame but Dean, Kerry and others who continue to pander to the anti-war activists within our party.”

Damn liberal anti-war activists like Murtha and Chuck Hagel. They must hate 'merica.

2. We need to FIGHT!! Rove is clearly back in form
at least for now. These people are sick. The problem is, dems/libs don't get any air time to get their point across. The talking point of the week is...the dems are divided... What does that make Hagel?

We are doomed unless we get a strong voice and demand media attention some how.

5. I agree - Rove is back for a little while
and we need to kick him right into the gutter, where he belongs. Letters to the editor, call in to talk shows, whatever we can do. I am with you 100%.

8. Pigboy Rove = vicious old woman gossiping and spreading tales
Let's put up a counter billboard. Instead of Dean with a white flag, it'll have Junior with a bottle of Jim Beam.

The above post has kindly provided you with an image. Please cover up all "Dean-with-white-flag" billboards with this image!

3. Here's the DNC's counter-ad
Bush Cites Doubt America Can Win War on Terror

"I don't think you can win it," Mr. Bush replied.

Republican senator Chuck Hagel said “The reality is that we're losing in Iraq."

"We can't kill them all," Lt. Col. Frederick P. Wellman said. "When I kill one I create three."

Bill O’Reilly said: “Fox News correspondents tell me they can't go out for a cup of coffee in the capital city because it's too dangerous. That's brutal. Based on that scenario, the war is not being won.”

Joint Chiefs Chairman Richard Myers, with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld at his side, said: "There is no way to militarily lose in Iraq. There is also no way to militarily win in Iraq."

9. Now that's GOOD!
And of course we need to put lots of white flags in the ad.

10. Doesn't work
it doesn't reinforce any stereotypes about THEM. The reason this white flag ad will work is because it reinforce the stereotypes about the Dems. For a counter ad to work, it would have to reinforce the public's fears about the Repubs - too mean, want to harm the elderly, bigoted, too under the thumb of the fundies, etc.

6. Oh, this is rich. I've got to see it.
Okay, I saw it.

I see Pigface is back at his desk.

But he forgot the part about how Dean must also be a child-molester--since everyone who sees that the emperor has no clothes MUST be a "child-molester", right?

Okay, so let's get some billboards up with a presidential seal on them--covered in blood, gore, and severed limbs.

15. this may backfire... seriously, watch the ad, link here:
http://gop.com/Default.aspx

I think that this ad will have Americans nodding their heads in agreement, except for the DUMBASS Kerry remark about "... American soldiers clmbing in through windows in the dead of night, terrorizing Iraqi women and children..."... why didn't he just gift-wrap the goddamned remark and present it to Mehlman for Christmas?

Anyway, noticebly, Murtha is NOT in this ad... my opinion, I think it's so blatantly jingoistic and stupid, americans are onto these frigging jerks and their "Only Patriots support the War" blather.

A dopey ad which will only rally the morons in their base, but will annoy the rest of us (majority) who are sick of hearing the empty slogans.

16. Sorry
but more than 50% of Americans will by it BECAUSE "it's so blatantly jingoistic and stupid".

I dread 25 years from now as the Repugs indoctrinate the next generation by claiming Murtha, Dean, Kerry et al caused da Good Ole US of A to lose over'thar in I-Rack because they was wimps.

Doomed to repeat, doomed to repeat, doomed to repeat...

17. The Democrats didn't lie us into this war...???
Let's put the blame where it belongs. The Democrats are not now responsible for finding an exit strategy for Junior.

18. People are just plain stupid
I do not base the success or failure of our foreign policy on a dumb, divisive web ad. Anyone who buys into that hyperbole is already firmly locked on Bush's ass. This is just pandering to the base IMHO.

This is like some desperate gambler who keeps betting on the same pony, only to lose again and again. Maybe if he changed ponies he'd have better luck.

19. This isn't GOP strength...

... this is weakness.

There is one year to go before the Mid-terms. Anything could go wrong in Iraq over that time. The timing of their "offensive" couldn't be worse - they will "peak" 9 months before elections and then the "Democrats want to surrender" talking point will be dead. They are supposed to be "ramping up", not throwing the kitchen sink.

This is all about halting Junior's fall in the polls... by any means necessary.

21. bush waved the white flag over a year ago
"The president who has campaigned for months as the candidate who can win the war on terror said in an interview broadcast Monday that he doesn't think such a war ever could be won."

"I don't think you can win it," Bush said in the interview on NBC's Today show. "But I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world."
