Clinton 'annoys' U.S. climate team
Ex-president to make surprise speech at U.N. conference

Friday, December 9, 2005 Posted: 1132 GMT (1932 HKT)

Clinton's speech is unofficial but is expected to attract hundreds of delegates at the Montreal conference.

MONTREAL, Quebec (AP)
-- A contentious U.N. climate conference entered its final day Friday with the long-term future undecided in the fight against global warming, and with a surprise visitor on tap to rally the "pro-Kyoto" forces.

Bill Clinton, who as president championed the Kyoto Protocol clamping controls on "greenhouse gases," was scheduled to speak at the conference Friday afternoon -- in an unofficial capacity but potentially at a critical point in backroom talks involving the U.S. delegation.

The U.S. envoys, representing a Bush administration that renounced the Kyoto pact, were said to be displeased by the 11th-hour surprise.

"They haven't protested formally, but they're annoyed," a source in the Canadian government, conference host, said of the U.S. delegates. "They're not infuriated, but they're not thrilled."...

1. Tough shit if the US climate team is upset, Clinton has every right
to speak out on something he is passionate about.

4. Yep, and he has helped them out with some serious messes, like
their lack of response or slow response on the tsunami and Katrina.

Hahaha!!

8. Let him speak - at least give the US one person whom will be listened.
Clinton has more sense than the bush thugs put together.

Let him speak.

2. The Big Dog gets in their faces and stays there
and does it in a socially acceptable manner (i.e. without being rude or obnoxious like the RW does). Dems still refuse to learn from the Big Dog.

5. I think it comes naturally to Clinton. I'll never forget when Bush
the elder was on Larry King in the last days of the campaign in 1992.

Larry King took a call, saying it was from Little Rock.

Bush rolled his eyes and sighed.

And there was Bill Clinton on the phone challenging him.

He is really good at it.

I kind of think that each individual has to play to their strength.

It seems to me it wouldn't really work for others to try to re-create themselves in someone else's image.

But I must admit that President Clinton's tenaciousness was one of his very appealing and admirable qualities. Of course he was also brilliant, articulate, and charming.

(Come to think of it, General Clark is likewise very tenacious and has the other qualities I mentioned as well. Hmmmm.)

6. Your post makes absolutely no sense tony-the-pony.
What are you trying, in a very round about way, to say???? That Former President Clinton causes volcano eruptions? Or that it is absolutely natural to have global warming because repukes don't care to change their destructive lifestyles. Or god forbid we make corporations use some of their hard earned profits to clean up the mess they made. Or that maybe....(the repuke mantra here) there is no global warming, there is no global warming, there is no global warming there is no global warming thereisnoglobalwarming, thereisnoglobalwarming.....:sarcasm:

9. Would that include
all the hot air coming from the neocons and radical right wing, including those in power in Washington?

Boy talk about pollution, noise, air, you name it...

10. Yes, let's talk about that.
Given that there is actually a correlation between volcanic activity and global temperature, how do you explain that the current warming trend does not fit with it? This is a period of relative volcanic inactivity, yet the climate is warming at a rate consistent with far higher volcanic activity.

11. How about all of that hot fetid air from the RW? There is more
pollution there, than anywhere else.
