Repunks help Dem mayor of Detroit in recount.
"Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's dream team working to challenge the recount of his election victory includes some unlikely helpers.

Republicans.

As the recount began Thursday, several Republicans -- including Jeff Timmer, executive director of the state GOP -- joined Kilpatrick's team.

"He's the mayor of all the people," said Bob Berg, the mayor's campaign spokesman.

The alliance raised questions with challenger Freman Hendrix, who requested the recount, especially because GOP poll watchers were accused of intimidating Detroit voters on Election Day.

"So for Mr. Kilpatrick to embrace them and actually help them is nothing short of miraculous," said Greg Bowens, a Hendrix spokesman."
