Keep Dean. Howard speaks for me.
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 05:39 PM by texpatriot2004
I think Howard Dean is fantastic. He is a fighter. He speaks the truth to power. He works on behalf of the average American. He consistently goes to bat for me and for many. He is a very effective speaker. The DNC under his leadership responds quickly to current events and issues. I am extremely grateful for Howard Dean.

1. Me too.
Anyone who says otherwise needs their friggin' noggins looked at...

We FINALLY have someone at the helm who understands that we have to speak truth to power, and that the evil nazi bastards running this country (into the ground) need a bloody nose or two before the sheeple will wake up, the LAST thing we need to do is start questioning why we wanted him there in the first place because he says things that get the right-wing presstitutes all in a tizzy...

Screw that, I stand with Dr. Dean.

79.  Dean is a smart man. He doesn't have to think of a good
answer when he's being interviewed. He knows the answers. he doesn't need prompting. He keeps up with the relevant things. A good man. A good rep for me.

2. If you've heard him talk about Health Care and Education for ALL Americans
you can tell how much he is motivated by these goals, independently, he initiated his interest in these things honestly from his own motivations, separate from, not just a response to the political context that shapes most of our fearless Dems.

I was trying to stop being a Deanocrat, and just be a Democrat, but lately . . . . .

Howard Dean is 100% for you and me. He has courage, brilliance and is assertive. I am grateful 24/7 for Howard Dean as our DNC Chairman. His presence in the Party prompts me to stay politically active within my community and with campaign contributions. Without him, I would not be so inclined to give my heart and soul to change as he gives me HOPE.

8. I think the recent DLC backtalk is just strategy
I think they're keeping the game in play on the Democrats side to show (1) difference
of opinion is good and (2) as a wild card in case there's another terrorist attack
making Homely the Clown look good.

Just speaking strategically, I think it's a wise move.

Gotta be from 1998 or so. Gore is not DLC, hates the war, has clearly criticized Bush and DLC agenda, and let's not forget how furious the DLC was when Gore ran as a Populist in 2000. That pic was taken way back before ANY of us (you, me and Gore included) understood the wrongness of the DLC.

49. Here are Dean's comments from that article.
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 08:19 PM by janx
Howard Dean called a "strategic redeployment" of U.S. troops from Iraq.

Dean said on CNN's "American Morning" that Democrats have a plan for Iraq "that we can coalesce around" and that the differences between Democrats are being overemphasized by the media.

"I think that's mostly press gobbledygook," he said. "The press wants to focus on the differences. The differences are pretty small, perhaps Senator Lieberman excepted."

Dean said he is "with Jack Murtha" about withdrawing troops from Iraq.

"We need a strategic redeployment of our troops. We need to bring the 50,000 Guard troops home in the next six months. They don't belong there in the first place," Dean said.

"We need a special task force of anti-terrorist troops stationed in the Middle East, because we're going to have to deal with Zarqawi for a long time.

"We need 20,000 additional troops in Afghanistan, not in Iraq. We need to redeploy our troops ... and stop making our troops the target over there," he said.

"We can only win the war, which we have to win, if we change our strategy dramatically. The Democrats are coalescing around a very different strategy. We hope the president will join us," Dean said on CNN.

Dean said his comments from the radio interview in San Antonio, Texas, were taken "out of context. They kind of cherry-picked that one the same way the president cherry-picked the intelligence going into Iraq."

______________________________

Here is CNN "spin" from Jamie McIntyre and/or Barbara Starr:

Some of Dean's comments contrasted with those he made in a radio interview Monday that the United States appears to be repeating the mistakes of Vietnam in Iraq -- and that the idea that the war in Iraq can be won is "just plain wrong."

Frankly, I don't see any contrast. Where is the contrast? Sometimes I wonder whether or not these reporters need to be sent back to ENG Composition 101 in order to learn some critical thinking skills and logic.

Edit: Where is we "have to win" the war in Iraq? Would you be kind enough to show me? Am I missing something?

82. Little Tin God? Hmmmm, obvious I was right about why you made that
other thread. Why don't you like Dean? Is it because he is stating openly what quite a few regular American citizens are discussing in the comfort of their peers?

What the heck is a Tin God anyway? By the way, I am seriously not attacking you personaly, I am honestly wondering why you dislike Dean so much and yet have no problem with a Dem who actually openly condems another Dem for all the world to see giving more fodder to this corruption that continues unabated?

And he didn't flub, not in my world, the one's flubbing are those that are not standing behind him and allowing this man to speak what the people wish him to and that which they themselves are obviously much too frightened to....

They could remain silent on Dean, after all, many of them have remained steadfastly silent on many of the injustices this party in power has done to their own...

So why this rebuke of Dean when they dont dare rebuke those that are more deserving?

51. "We are mired in stalemate" - Walter Cronkite, 2-27-68
WALTER CRONKITE'S "WE ARE MIRED IN STALEMATE" BROADCAST, FEBRUARY 27, 1968

Tonight, back in more familiar surroundings in New York, we'd like to sum up our findings in Vietnam, an analysis that must be speculative, personal, subjective. Who won and who lost in the great Tet offensive against the cities? I'm not sure. The Vietcong did not win by a knockout, but neither did we. The referees of history may make it a draw. Another standoff may be coming in the big battles expected south of the Demilitarized Zone. Khesanh could well fall, with a terrible loss in American lives, prestige and morale, and this is a tragedy of our stubbornness there; but the bastion no longer is a key to the rest of the northern regions, and it is doubtful that the American forces can be defeated across the breadth of the DMZ with any substantial loss of ground. Another standoff. On the political front, past performance gives no confidence that the Vietnamese government can cope with its problems, now compounded by the attack on the cities. It may not fall, it may hold on, but it probably won't show the dynamic qualities demanded of this young nation. Another standoff.

55. unfortunately, too often, he's been speaking for himself
which is why it's so rare we get to see him during a time where a more level-headed DNC chair would be taking advantage of the president's current state of vulnerability to constantly hit the airwaves. Dean is damaging our party and is deflecting attention from an unpopular president, Republican corruption, and an unpopular war. The only way to contain the situation is to make Dean shut up, and that's not good for party fundraising.

59. Why is Dean's status even in question?
He has revitalized the Democratic Party at a most difficult juncture! He's the best chairman the Dems have had in a long time.

62. Let Dean be Dean. Get rid of the Mandarins and hacks, real soon.
Bring in some shit kickers without giant egos like the tripster. Just people who like to fight and win like Dean. Then we'll be in business.

Great post. Recommended.

67. I completely agree. I support him 100%
He's an effective voice of the opposition, he's great at fundraising. He was and is everything I hoped for in a DNC chair.

71. All about the Dean
His truth is hard on some ears. Others try to spin his words out of context to use against him. I'm not buying any of their bullshit. He's doing exactly what he should be doing and he's the only reason I'm sending money to the DNC right now. If her weren't there, they'd get nothing.

He's awesome, and lends me the strength I need to be a proud Democrat. His campaign is the one and only that I've ever contributied to. Thank you so very much Howard Dean for what you're doing for our party.
and for our country.
:toast:  :dem:
