I would love to know whether Fitz or Spitz have any thoughts about this.

I wonder if Karl Rove and Cheney bought Diebold stock and if so, how can Patrick Fitzgerald get into this. Well, the attempt to drown Joe Wilson could have been in important part of the conspiracy and certainly, if the Democrats won, a whole new kind of light might have been shed on these activities, including lying to the American people and high crimes and misdemeanors against the United States of America. They could not allow Bush to lose and Wilson could have brought them down, if Bush was running against anyone with a backbone.

So, they needed to sell lots of the Diebold unauditable machines to get the stock up and they also might have needed to conspire with the Republicans to use those back doors to ensure a Republican win so that Diebold and its fellow conspirators were safe and the attempt to smear Wilson would never be discovered by Kerry's Justice Dept. They also realized they were running against a complete schmuck in Kerry and a little manipulation was all they needed.

This was originally a comment in another very important diary by rukkus at http://www.dailykos.com/...

Kerry is the ONLY DEmocrat who would open the books completely on the BFEE and their cronies.

Wilson was a Kerry man. Kerry is the lawmaker who investigated and exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in modern history, so this person doesn't know what the FOCK they are talking about.

What Kerry had was a DNC set up to defend Clinton since 1996, and a DNC that never believed in machine fraud after the 2002 election.

Kerry does believe in machine fraud now, since the 2004 election and all its anomalies, and he's one of only a handful who do. I think that Dean does, too, and that should make the difference in 2008.

3. "Wilson could have brought them down." Nope, I don't buy this premise.
They have a boffo spin machine for the likes of Wilson. I don't think Traitorgate happened according to the popular narrative--that it was an effort to suppress dissent that went too far--outed an entire CIA counter-proliferation project, 20 years in the making, endangering all covert agents and contacts. I think there was something much more serious at stake than a dissenting article and a few public appearances by an ex-diplomat.

My theory: that they were cooking up more in Rome than the Niger forgeries; they were intending to plant nukes in Iraq (probably to be "found" by Judith Miller); this diabolically deceitful scheme got discovered and foiled, probably by Plame's counter-proliferation network; and Traitorgate was aimed, not merely at suppressing dissent, but also--and more importantly--at covering THAT up. (There's more to it, but that's the gist of it.)

The Bush junta had, and has, much to hide. I think it is a no-brainer that they couldn't let Kerry get elected, and that is WHY they set up an election system, owned and controlled by two Bushite corporations, Diebold and ES&S, run on "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls.

The wonder is that the Democratic leadership LET them set up such an election system. Is our leadership INSANE? Corrupt? Stupid? --probably a complex mix of all this and more.

I think we should look to the DLC types in the Dem Party for the answers--people like Christopher Dodd and Hillary Clinton. (I picked up somewhere that Dodd was the one who advised Kerry on electronic voting. Ye gods!)

Something rotten in the state of Denmark. That's for sure.

2. Of course this is possible--
But, whenever someone states what the Republicans are capable of, they're called conspiracy theorists. (Which makes it really hard for a conspiracy to come to light). Also, I wonder why any Democrat would run for office if they knew that the voting machines were rigged. (Which makes me come up with even more theories). Sigh.
